ryan93 Wrote:I know Crosby, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Zherdev, etc. all score their share...but is there a player in the game that scores more highlight reels goals than Pavel Datsyuk???

Datsyuk is dirty good. I finally found another hockey fanatic in the Lou and he is a Red Wings fan. Glad to finally be able to talk hockey with someone.

Also, what's with Toskala's good play recently? Is he finally settling into the #1 position or what? The guy has been stellar the last few games, with a GAA well below 2 in his last eight games.

It seems that when goalies switch teams AND go to the other conference, it takes them a few weeks to adjust. Luongo got off to a pretty slow start last season with Vancouver. Not that I'm comparing Toskala to Luongo (I wish), but it could explain why it took a few weeks for the real Toskala to show up.

At least this stretch of good play has put the "Messier for GM" nonsense to rest.

Go Habs! Glad we got the points at home for a change, the Leafs looked tired but we played a solid game for 3 periods which is a nice change. I think Price has T.O.'s number this year, he'll be no.1 before this season is over I bet...Huet is trade bait now.

I think Maurice way overreacted on the McCabe injury, take a chill pill pal.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I didn't see the game, and read about Maurice's take on the "hit" before I had a chance to see the replay. After seeing the replay, I'm really confused as to what Maurice was so upset about.

He should be relieved. Now the Leafs can play without McCabe.

He said something about Kostitsyn reaching around and grabbing McCabe. Maybe from his point of view, Kostitsyn purposely "threw" or "pulled" McCabe into the boards.
But, the replay clearly shows that McCabe just hit the boards awkwardly. It happens.

Looks like Chris Simon will be starting Christmas holidays early..........hopefully the guy will be booted for good. How many strikes do you need before the league finally says enough is enough.

"There is little doubt that Sidney Crosby is the best hockey player in the world right now.."

The quote above was taken from TSN's website. People wonder why I have no regard for supposed "professionals" who cover the sport of hockey in Canada.

There is VERY MUCH DOUBT that Sidney is the best player, actually. But, why let the truth get in the way of a great marketing machine. :?

A few players off the top of my head that I'd rate ahead of Crosby are: Joe Thornton, Jarome Igninla, Vincent Lecavalier.

I agree about TSN and the love affair they have with Crosby. It's making me hate the kid, which ain't fair to him

Who wonders, exactly?

Better question: who holds hockey writers in high regard?

I like Eric Duhatschek......and that's about it. The rest of 'em just throw a bunch of crap at a wall to see what sticks.

Flames win again! 6 in a row, baby! And all on the road no less. This team is playing some solid hockey right now, and I'm sorry Sid, but Jarome Iginla is currently the best player in the NHL.

With all due respect to Joe Sakic, I think Iginla is the best captain in the league right now, too. He scores, he fights, he's tough, has soft hands, forechecks/backchecks hard, and according to his teammates, he's a leader on and off the ice.

I may be wrong, (and I'm sure you'll let me know if I am wrong) but weren't you one of the guys who were criticizing me for speaking ill of the biased Canadian coverage of the World Juniors last year? Whoever attacked me for criticizing Canada's biased hockey coverage obviously wonders.

Anyway, on to other things:
--Jarome Iginla, right now, is playing a higher level of hockey than any other player in the NHL.
--The shootout is still a complete mockery of the game.
--The greasy Oilers would be dead last in the NHL if not for the shootout.
