You took Cincy straight-up or just to cover?

The spread is 7.5; I doubt this defense can play well enough to keep the Bengals within a TD of Brady & Co ...

The thing is, I have no idea what to expect from this team anymore. Sometimes the defense comes out and flocks to the ball and hits people in the mouth and hurries the QB and creates turnovers....and sometimes they look like the have no idea how to play within their own scheme.

I just have a feeling that Brady will be able to take what he wants early in the game, and once they get a lead of a couple scores, they'll shorten things up and pound it out on the ground, keeping a weary Cincy defense on the field.

Oh...and one more thing....Rudi Johnson is injured, and while I like his replacement Kenny Watson, he has virtually no experience as a 'featured back'.

Kenny Watson, Total carries in a season:

'06: 26
'05: 0
'04: 26
'03: 0
'02: 116

Times with 20+ carries in a game: 2
Most carries in a game since 2002: 9 (last week)

I thought you had a "feeling"? Can you tell me when you get this feeling again?

My NFL kick in the junk from this week was contemplating taking Buffalo with one of my three entries in a $9K suicide pool, and switching to the Jets at the last minute. The Bills might win one game all season, and I would have nailed it. DOH!

Ah well - two entries left. And thanks to San Diego, there are only 300 out of 900 still standing.

The Bengals are quickly reverting back to "Bungles" status.

What an embarrassment.

Thank heavens for the Buckeyes.

Jaws is good but he's surrounded by idiocy so he's helpless. Jaws actually tries to break a game down and ANALYZE a game. Now there's a concept. However, his two partners pretty much detract from any of his attempts at calling what's happening on the field. As a matter of fact, there are only two or three good commentators in all of football. And, no, Phil Simms and John Madden are not on that list.

I really wish they would have not gotten rid of Paul Maguire, I really enjoyed him.
And I hate tony kornheiser

I enjoy watching him on PTI, but he's pretty annoying when trying to watch a football game.

Yeah, it's obvious that Kornheiser is there for the sole purpose of bringing that "journalist" sensibility to the broadcast....to stimulate discussion and debate over league & team news, notes, and issues. He's damn good at that, but the fundamental problem here is that the genuine football fans in the audience don't want the actual play-by-play broadcast to include op/ed commentary and socio-political fluff. It's merely a ploy to draw fringe viewers who don't care so much about the specific game being played....and that waters the whole broadcast down for those who are watching because they have a vested interest in the game being covered.

Jaws is BY FAR the best NFL analyst in the biz.....I ALWAYS want to hear what he has to say.

And I think Mike Tirico does a fantastic job as well. I have no problem whatsoever with him.

It's the ratings-grab thing that bothers me about MNF; true football fans have no need for a third man in the booth (Kornheiser) providing the "witty repertoire" of an acclaimed sportswriter.

Dennis Miller anyone???

Dan Fouts was very good when he was on MNF. He called THE GAME. Watching games with the mute turned on is probably the best way to go I think. Hearing commentators praise Ray Lewis during every Ravens broadcast when it's clear to everyone with an analytical brain that he's no longer the best LB in the game is too annoying for me. Seeing the vaunted Ravens d get lit up by the Browns was comical.

That Philly game a little while back when Charles Barkley was in the booth was excrutiating to sit through. One, because the Eagles suck, but moreso because of the mindless banter. I think the announcing crew went an entire quarter without mentioning what was happening on the field. Hearing Charles Barkley repeat himself a million times (which he has a habit of doing) made me wanna smash the television set. :x :x

Kornheiser always comes up with great commentary like, "this would be a big win for the Bengals over the Patriots, Jaws, wouldn't it?" Confusedcratch: Confusedcratch:

Dennis Miller was better than Kornheiser but Miller sucked hard. It's just that Kornheiser is THAT bad.

I agree that he did a good job of limiting his commentary to on-field action, but I did not like alot of his analysis. There were times he'd make an assessment of the play, then the replay would essentially contradict him, and then he'd act like the replay actually confirmed what he'd said. Irritated me to no end. And his west-coast bias wasn't too thinly-veiled, either...and that annoyed me too.

There has yet to be one instance where I found myself thinking that Jaws was off-base or "reaching", whether it be game analysis, strategy, or just general commentary / opinion. He's the best analyst to ever grace the booth, IMO.

And sorry Dana, but I wouldn't mind if Paul McGuire never called another game. Dude's a buffoon.
