Man, what the hell is going on in Philly? EIGHT YEARS?!? I guess the Roenick, Hatcher, Rathje, and Forsberg deals worked out so well that they just couldn't help themselves.

Oh, but at least they are doing something, right Steve Simmons?

Plus its a front loaded deal, I think he gets 10 mil in the first year.

Just in Rafalski to the Red Wings.. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=212429&hubname=

A new trade: Philadelphia trade Joni Pitkanen and winger Geoff Sanderson to Edmonton for Jason Smith and Joffrey Lupul.

So the Flyers have added Timonen, Hartnell, Briere, Lupul and Jason Smith. I hate the Flyers but I have to give them credit for going all out, I wish the Habs would do the same.

I didn't even know Geoff Sanderson was still in the league

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet.

Leafs signed Jason Blake to a 5-year, $20M deal.

There is no way Gomez is worth 7.3 mill a year, thats ridiculous. I hate seeing players make way more than they deserve only because they get lucky and become UFA's at the right time, Like Ted Lilly in the MLB

I don't get it...Kevin Lowe said he was commited to making his team better... I don't know how his last few moves made the team any better....kinda made it worse on paper

I was pretty confident that Scott Gomez was going to sign with the Rangers, and I'm thrilled with the move. He's one hell of a player....he's a terrific passer & should be a good fit feeding Jagr, he's got loads of speed, great defensively, and now that he's finally out of the NJ system i think you'll see his offensive numbers increase.

I knew that if Nylander wasn't brought back that there was a chance that Chris Drury would be a Ranger too, but wasn't really expecting them to be able to sign both.

Wow, I just got home from the fireworks & have to go have a closer look at all that has transpired while i was gone!

Actually the article on TSN speculates that Drury will play with Jagr, whatever...although i knew there was a good chance Gomez & Drury would be to NYC, i thought a more likely scenerio would be Gomez & Lang.

The St. Louis Blues sign winger Paul Kariya to a three-year deal.

The Colorado Avalanche have signed winger Ryan Smyth to a five-year deal worth $31.25 million.

The Smyth deal is no big surprise, other than he'll be playing the oilers 8 times a year...but Kariya...I had him pegged going to Vancouver, or somewhere close to home

if only the Hab geneticists and/or resurrectionist crack squad could conjure your avatar, there would be no need to partake in such a slanderous event…

What happened to all of those tears for Edmonton? I mean to not only not come back after all the blubbering at the trade deadline, but to sign with a division rival?

I thought he would have considered it, considering he was guarenteed the "C" in Edmonton, and the Oil did free up some cap space....I du know...crocodile tears??

$$$$$ does the talking.

I thought the idea behind the salary cap was that we wouldn't have to "rebuild" for decades at a time. Come on, Kevin, do something positive! You can only ride on nearly winning the cup for so long.
