FYI: When RAW was in Montreal last week, the crowd chanted YOU SCREWED BRET to HBK and Bret's music got played but sadly, no Bret. And at SummerSlam, the crowd in Washington DC, chanted WE WANT BRET!

World Wrestling Entertainment has confirmed that Canadian-born wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and son Daniel were found dead in their Atlanta home. Authorities are on scene, and no cause of death has been released.

Wow, thats shocking! Personally, I havent watched wrestling in years but I remember Chris Benoit as being one of my favourites. Interestingly enough, he was at the FM96 studios about a month ago promoting the JLC event and he seemed like such a great guy.

That is fucked up that they would do that. My step-son used to watch all the time (but got out of it) but happened to flip throught the chanels and saw it. Nothing builds a legacy like glorification.

Well, I'm not sure if they knew about it being a potential murder-suicicde when the show was thrown together.
I too am bewildered by it all. Benoit was one of my favourites... because he was Canadian and also a damn good wrestler.
However, if all the stories are true, and he did do this, I just won't be able to think of him in the same light.
I just don't see how anyone can murder their own child.........

They didn't know it was a murder-suicide untill 10 pm last night, one hour into their show.
They have since pulled all Benoit merch from their website.

Good point Dan - but they also didn't know he didn't do it....
I guess they were screwed either way - I seem to recall them taking a lot of flak when Owen Hart died and they just broadcast RAW as if nothing had happened.

They went on with the Raw, as a tribute show. All wrestlers wearing the black "OH" armbands. Also had interviews with the wrestlers, similar to last night.

"My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning.His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fasioned a slip-knot noose from rope taken from the garage. and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home."

Chris Benoit investigation - A new report claims that WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) professional wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife on Saturday, and then smothered his son in his bed a day later on Sunday. The report comes from the newsroom at TMZ.Com. On Saturday Benoit was supposed to participate in a "SmackDown" show in Beaumont, Texas; however, he was a no-show at the event.
