All reviews are done in Toronto. What does the game being in New York have to do with it? It's not like the referees make the call of goal or no goal. It's Mike Smith and his cronies in Toronto.

you don't piss off a New York crowd at MSG...Colin Cambell has a lot of ties with the Rangers..Rangers are good for ratings on NBC....enough reasons?

Any proof that the Rangers get better ratings than the Sabres? If you don't piss off a crowd at MSG, then why were six, count 'em, SIX, penalties in a row called against the Rangers in game 3?

I'll criticize a player for diving whether he is on Buffalo, Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Anaheim, Detroit, etc. I've criticized Vancouver players for diving without hesitation. Hey, last night Sedin took a blatant dive which resulted in a penalty against Neidermeyer. Alfie took a dive. Most NHL players have been constantly diving in the playoffs. Alfie's dive on that play was pretty special.

Well, at least you are now recognizing he was tripped. Perhaps he did embellish it (I'm not entirely convinced he did), but as you said, that is expected behaviour this time of the year. As for Alfredsson being classified as a 'diver', I guess we'll have to disagree on that one.

tigerthelion Wrote:You're an Ottawa fan so I can at least understand your bias and the reason for your opinions on the incident. It was clearly goalie interference any way you slice it. You can't interfere with the goalie's attempt to save a shot. Fisher did it. He knows he got away with it. Bryan Murray's blatant lie about Fisher being pushed only further shows how unreasonable and ridiculous Ottawa's players and coaches are. As an Ottawa fan, deep down I am 100% sure that you know it should have been called. If it happened to Emery, you would be on here complaining about the non-call. That non call on Fisher is as relevant as it gets. It directly caused a goal. It doesn't get any more relevant than that. Any attempt to hide that fact is futile and ignorant.

For the record, if it was incidental contact, it isn't a penalty (Brodeur's leg was out of his crease). Also, for the record, Bryan Murray never stated "Fisher was pushed into Brodeur", he claimed he was "directed". There is certainly a difference between the two, and the latter is nearly plausible after watching the replay. "Murray's blatant lie...shows how unreasonable and ridiculous Ottawa's players and coaches are"... that is an awfully bold statement considering you are basing it on one quote that you manufactured. If you could provide more evidence of how Ottawa's players and coaches are "unreasonable" and "ridiculous" I could begin to even think about the possibility of entertaining that idea. But as it stands, I'll just ignore it.

Also, the fact that a goal was scored following the play is, in fact, irrelevant. How can you justify the referees making, or breaking calls based on what follows in the play? If that was a penalty, it should have been called (along with the other 16,723 times incidental contact has been made with a goaltender in these playoffs). It was a hockey play, the same play that happens in every game, and it go's uncalled 95% of the time.

Ok then. How the hell was Fisher directed into Brodeur? Tell me the difference between pushed and directed? Tell me the many ways a player can be "directed" into the goalie. Murray implied that he was "directed" into Brodeur, which means he was pushed. You darn well know what Murray meant. I can't believe how nonsensical Ottawa fans can be. That was a blatant missed call. Have you watched the games? Goalie interference has been called a gazillion times in the playoffs. Incidental contact my ass. If that's the case, then there should have been zero goalie interference calls in the playoffs because no other goalie interference that has been called in the playoffs was as blatant as Fisher's.

Referees wait all the time to make calls. Have you not noticed that? Players stay down a few extra seconds all the time to get calls, AND IT WORKS. When a player hits a goalie and causes him to lose position and is the SOLE reason for the goal, yeah, I'd say the referees have the discretion to make the call. It's their duty to make the call.
Unreasonable? Well, let's give it a go. Murray complains about every penalty call. Ottawa players dive even more than the usual team. Fisher acted like his contact on Brodeur was an accident and like it wasn't a big deal. Bryan Murray saying Fisher was directed into Brodeur, a blatant lie that the conclusive video evidence proves, was enough for me to call him ridiculous. :rambo: Did you even watch the play or were your Ottawa blinders affecting your vision? Fisher wasn't "directed" into Brodeur in any way, shape or manner. That's a fact. You can't dispute facts. The video evidence is conclusive enough to hold up in court.

"Hockey play" that "happens in every game"? Are you serious? Are you Mike Fisher? That's one of the only times this season that I've seen a goalie so blatantly interfered with that he lost his ability to make the save. With all the talk of Luongo and Turco getting bumped in the first round series, never was either goalie interfered with to the extent that Brodeur was on that play. Turco and Luongo were flopping almost everytime someone came near them. The worst contact on Luongo came after a play, when he was kneed in the head. Brodeur didn't flop. He had no reason to. If that had happened to Emery, he would still by yelling at the ref, along with Murray. They were never interfered with enough to seriously hinder their chance to make a save.

Exactly Tiger. Brodeur is a class act all the way. Nevermind flopping, Marty didn't even look at the ref for a penalty when he was hit, he just tried to get back into the play as quickly as possible. Contrast that with tonight, where the Canucks lose the series because Luongo was too busy looking at the ref to notice the shot coming in from the point. One would hope that given the circumstances, he'll never get caught doing that again.

yes it was a mistake by luongo..but i hope nobody blames him for the loss...anybody who watched the game knows he's the only reason it wasn't 10-0 after 2 periods...and that first anaheim goal should never have counted anyways
