Yeah, it was hostile. It's his cassette, at any rate, so I can;t complain if he doesn't share.

I think It's important for a piece like this to be distributed, even just for the sake of preservation. As far as we know its the only copy around(outside of the Hip's Vault's probably) and if something should befall it, it would be lost. How can the winner be possessive? He'd always own the master, the official source.
I guess it's just my opinion that it would be his duty to allow others(at their expense) to copy/share. I knew if I obtained it, even for whatever number, I would realize that it's a little bit of music history, and you can't own that.
I love your method, SRB. In the future, I'd like to organize something like that if another oportunity like this arises.

Corby, yu're thinking from your own (clearly admirable) mindset.
Who's to say this guy didn't bid on it because he recognised the chance to make a profit??

If we can raise enough money - I have been in contact with the seller for a couple of weeks - he offered it to me for $150.
I do not agree with paying for Hip "bootlegs", and I am not convinced that this is something that we do not all already have - maybe just some of the song titles have been changed.
Just food for thought.

Hmmm... I'm in for $20.
I spoke to him the day the auction started - and he kept in contact with me. He said he would be willing to make me a copy, but he would like some cash depending on how the price of the auction went. When it closed at $300 he offered it to me at half.
I have not talked to him in a week, since I said - thanx but !!!!!!!!$150!!!!!!!

Also - the kid that won the auction has a username of Jason Devries.
I swear in the Hip circles over the past years I have run across that name.
It says he is from Ontario - anyone know the guy?

I've seen that name around as well... but can't place it.
