Ok fine, I'll give my real reason on what is embarrassing about Canada, but first I'll give it some context.

A guy on a message board says Quebec is embarrassing about Canada. Another guy notices he is from PEI, and says he is embarrassed by PEI.

So I guess what embarrasses me are the Canadians who are hypocrites, those with some sort of baseless provincial pride, those who are embarrassed by other provinces for baseless reasons, or a combination thereof. In other words, all Canadians embarrass me

Yeah, uh, do you know the meaning of the word 'hypocrite'? Explain how I am being a hypocrite if you please. Provincial pride? I have no provincial pride whatsoever. I wasn't even born on PEI.

There's only one province in Canada threatening to separate as far as I can tell. Nothing like bringing Canada together as a nation than threatening to separate every few years or so and begging to be called a separate 'nation'. It's good for unity. There's only one province in Canada who has its own party representing them in the federal government. Good for unity. Not to mention the tiny little fact that every person I've talked to who has been to Quebec has commented on the general rudeness of the people there. :rambo:

Maybe you should actually come and live in Quebec one of these days. This isn't the mid 90s anymore. And besides, I can guarantee that the anglophones in this country would be the ones responsible for any form of Quebec separation. It isn't the Quebecois that talk about separation, it's the anglophones that have an archaic belief that they know the opinions of everyone in Quebec. And it's the anglophones that perpetuate the myth that Quebec wants to separate. Fuck, if I had a bunch of ignorant assholes breathing down my neck 24/7, I'd want to separate too.

There's plenty of seperatists in Alberta...they're just not as loud as Quebec...but trust me, there's a healthy seperatist population in Alberta.

And, I am a French-Canadian who moved from Quebec to Alberta years ago....trust me, there are still a lot of seperatists in Quebec, a lot of which think the rest of Canada hates them....why? Because the rest of Canada thinks Quebec hates them!

I'm the exact opposite, an anglophone thrust into Quebec. I still think anglophones are doing more than their part in the last decade to keep things icy.

There is actually a small separatist movement for Northern Ontario, or at least, for parts of Northern Ontario. I know that in my neck of the woods, a few Kenora (if anyone knows where that is) council members wanted to secede and join Manitoba.

Ontario and Manitoba claimed the Kenora area during the 1870s and 1880s, and both governments established parallel administrations.

From a ticket sales & business standpoint, the Grizzlies were one of the most promising teams before the lockout. But after that, the team owners, OrcaBay, began to lose money, but not all because of the team, so they were sold and moved to Memphis. The team itself sucked. Alot. But as do almost every expansion team in every pro-league that has ever existed. They just didn't have time to develope.

Give Vancouver another team, and I gaurantee you they would flourish. I'm not saying this because I live in or have ties to Vancouver, I just have faith.

P.S.- Memphis has the lowest ticket sales in the NBA

Ahhhhhh, the Grizzlies. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I was living in Vancouver for the birth and subsequent departure of the Grizz. During the Grizzlies' 2nd season, a buddy of mine found a site called tickets.com where they would auction off tickets to every major sporting event in North America. As a promotion they bought courtside seasons tickets for every NBA team and auctioned those off on their site. Well, apparently nobody in Vancouver except my buddy and I had heard of tickets.com, so we would literally pay something like $5USD for courtside seats. It almost made me like basketball. My favourite player was Pete Chilcutt (sp?) because his bio said that he collected "toy dragons", which cracks me up to this day. Anyway, the ruse was up when some guys in Bellingham found the site as well and actually started bidding the tickets up to $40+. To true basketball fans that was nothing for courtside seats. But to me $40 was a lot of beer!
