You don't have to stay at the Ritz.... you can go for half that!

Plus, treat their families to a much needed vacation?
fair point. i just like them to keep it real
"Keep it real?" What the f**K does that mean? That's the silliest thing I've heard this calendar year. Pearl Jam is playing a festival in Italy just to "keep it real" I suppose. After all, they will be playing to their true fans in Italy.
As for Pearl Jam and Radiohead, of course I could see them doing something like this. They would do it in a heartbeat. It's a concert, man. How is this just a cash grab? What do you think that their big Canadian arena shows are for? You don't think they get paid for them? They make money from every concert they do (aside from charity shows of course). The Hip aren't working for free ya know. :rambo:

Ha. the "keep it real" was just a joke and an ironic poke.
no need to get so wound up. i just think it's a lame gig. this is an opinion forum and we're allowed to express all of our opinions.
Whether it's hedge fund conferences or playing to a bunch of Molson drinking Canadian ex-pats who miss the comforts of home, it just seems like a silly gig to me. plus, with $100 VIP tickets, it just all sounds a bit too corporate for me. (this strikes me as a gig where the "go leafs go" chant would start.... another huge pet peeve of mine at Hip shows).
you're welcome to disagee and you do.... so good on ya, mate.
i say it out of pure love for the band, man. the arena shows were an honest experience of a band playing a show to meet demand of the market. if they took on a corperate sonsor like The Rolling Stones often do, I would also give them a hard time.
apologies if your calendar year has been turned upsidedown by my comments, but ya know what they say about opinions and assholes....
