Thats bullshit, all he was doing was defending himself from the impending cheap shot from Robidas, Modano should have gotten suspended for swinging his stick and hitting Tootoo in the back. There's no way Tootoo should have gotten suspended for more games than Janssen.

True. The Janssen hit deserved way more than Tootoo's punch.

Sure, PIT has more talent...but talent alone doesn't win you games.

Sorry, but I stick to my original post - leading the Pens to the season they've had is a lot more impressive than riding the back of Luongo.

Want more evidence? When Gretzky was 19 the Oilers were a 69 point team. A guy named "Messier" was on that team too.

So any coach in NJ since Brodeur has been there doesn't deserve credit for the Devil's success?

Actually, that supports my position perfectly given that coaches in NJ have been so interchangeable since Brodeur became the starter in '93:

* Jacques Lemaire, 1993–1998
* Robbie Ftorek, 1998–2000
* Larry Robinson, 2000–2002
* Kevin Constantine, 2002
* Pat Burns, 2002–2005
* Larry Robinson, 2005
* Lou Lamoriello, 2005–2006
* Claude Julien, 2006–present

I mean if it was about the coaching, don't you think they'd keep them a little longer? :lol:

I honestly could care less about the coach of the year. As for Tootoo, i think it was a cheap shot by a cheap player & he deserved to be suspended. Not sure if should of gotten more than Janssen or not, but i have no problem with them giving him 5 games.

Rangers win a very close one, with Jaromir Jagr scoring the winner with 33 seconds left in the game. I'm very proud of how they are playing right now, with points in 10 of the last 11 games. 3 weeks ago i had all but given up on them making the playoffs, and now here they are tonight the 7th seed, and only 1 point behind 6th place Tampa Bay.
And the injuries continue to pile up, Martin Straka was hurt last game and is now out. The blueline is so banged up right now that they were forced to go and sign Jason Strudwick out of the Swiss Elite League this afternoon & he dressed for tonights game.

you mean rob scuderi scores the winner...he is the one player on the pens i can`t stand, he is so brutal... i wish they would try out kwiatkowski who they got from florida

But you can't say those coaches were chopped liver since at least two of the guys on the list have won COY honours as far as I know. Also, you mentioned that Lemaire deserves consideration for how well the Wild have done. If Lemaire is a good coach now, I think he was a good coach in NJ too. Big Grin

But I didn't say Vigneault was chopped liver, did I?

You said: is there anyone who deserves COY more than Vigneault?

And I said, yeah, I think the job that Therrien has done this year, with a very young and very inexperienced team is much more impressive than what Vigneault has done this season. I didn't say Vigneault has done a crap job - in fact he was smart enough to recognize the team's strength (Luongo) and play to it. Too many times coaches will let their "I'm a great coach" ego get in the way and not play to the strengths of the roster they have (case in point: when Mike Murphy was coaching the Leafs and insisted on playing a defensive trap style game when it was clear that Felix Potvin was not the player to build your gameplan around).

Vigneault has done a great job - he will be in the playoffs.
Therrien has done a great job - he will be in the playoffs.
Lemaire has done a great job - he will be in the playoffs.

Hmmmmm, what do these guys all have in common? :lol:

They're also all middle-aged white guys.

So when do other teams start calling games against the Oilers "guaranteed win" nights?

Colorado's next 2 games are against Edmonton, while the Flames next 2 are against Detroit & Nashville...plus Colorado & Calgary still have 2 head-to-head matchups left, so the West playoff picture could get very interesting as well.
As for the East, Montreal & Toronto are both in action tonight, and Tampa Bay & the NY Islanders play each other, which will be a huge game. Rick DiPietro is hoping to play, which will be a huge boost if he does. Mike Dunham has been horrible & i can't imagine the players having any confidence in him at all. Brendan Shanahan is going to play tomorrow night for the Rangers.

i'm not saying i want the oilers to intentionally drop games (not that its really necessary lately), but if we could lose to colarado...it'd be awesome.

GO AVS GO.

and yes, this is for all the flamer fans who have the poor sense to be kicking the oilers while they're down, and yet the phlegms have been sucking ass lately. its called karma, and i hope it bites you all in the ass hahahahaha!

see ya on the golf course!

Based on what I read around here and what I heard around the city when the Flames were eliminated last year and the Oil fans came out of the woodwork when the team went as far as they did, I'd say that it's also karma to have the Oil in the situation they are in right now. And I'm not even a Flames fan.

I had an Oilers fan colleague who in '04 claimed the Battle of Alberta was dead, so it was OK for him to cheer for the Flames in the playoffs. His story changed pretty quickly last year.

ohh i'm just having some fun at the flames fans expense. its great to see 'em sweat hehe.

and i'm confused? why do you say its karma for the oilers to have half the team hurt or sick, including most of the veteran players, and have to resort to calling up kids who've never seen a day's action in the NHL?

seriously...for us to be only losing games by one goal to teams like vancouver, san jose, etc.. with half our line playing in their first few games in the nhl is a *miracle*. i for one am proud as ever to be an oil fan.

Wow. Did you steal that directly from the Buffalo Sabres Fan Book of Excuses and Whining? Every team in the NHL suffers key injuries at some point of the season.....but usually it's only Sabres fans who play the "woe is us" card.

But, good on you for being proud of the Oil and their 11 game losing streak. It's times like these that separate the real fans from the bandwagon hoppers.
