The Hip are amazing, one of the best bands ever, but no-one can touch Led Zeppelin.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Hey guys,
I just saw this band 3 times in 3 nights and not one of the shows was the same. If that doesn't say that they are the best band then I do not know what does.

yup. and The Beatles will never be matched in pure influence on music as a whole.

I would have to agree that The Hip is the best band (esp touring/concert band) of current day. However, I do agree that Led Zepplin (and Pink Floyd, along with all the recent "oldies" of Rolling Stones and the Doors, and the like) are some of the best bands ever. Hard to compare current alternative/rock with the foundational rock bands (and of course punk bands like The Cure, etc) of the 60s and 70s (wish I were alive and/or old enough to have seen Zepplin, etc.)

The best band ever can never be determined as it is a matter of personal opion, however in my opion The Hip and Pearl Jam are the best by a fairly wide margin.

Agreed. Everyone knows the best is Nickelback.

They're awesome. They remind me a lot of Neil Young.

This is classic... in this NPR interview, there's a quote from Mike Kroeger comparing Nickelback to AC/DC.
