Aerosmith in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
#1

Aerosmith has been confirmed to be playing in Charlottetown July 21st. It's going to be an "all day rock festival", and it's supposed to include local, national and international bands. Any chance The Hip will be part of this? I've already heard their name brought up once. Nathan Wiley, 2 Hours Traffic, and In Flight Safety have already been confirmed, and they are working on getting Randy Bachman & Burtin Cummings too! The Hip would be the icing on the cake!

Damn...i just glanced at their dates on thehip.com and didn't see anything for that weekend, so was hoping maybe it was a possibility. Oh well, surely there will be other Maritime dates this fall Smile

Hopefully The Hip stay far away from this. They are a main attraction band. Seeing them open for the Stones was one thing but I don't want to see them open for Aerosmith. I want a full hour and forty five minute Hip concert the next time I see them in the Maritimes. Big Grin I might go to see Aerosmith play though. I couldn't care less about seeing Wiley(I've seen him several times already, opening for Gord and Sarah Harmer), Two Hours Traffic, or In Flight Safety though. Big Grin

What a decieving post topic....considering they are my two favorite bands I'd kill for that show. My dream has always been to see them each play an hour and a half at a show in Toronto where the Hip are big enough to get as much love as Aerosmith. Oh well...wishful thinking.

Aerosmith could open for the Hip. The only band left Legendary enough to have The Tragically Hip open now are The Police.

I don't agree with that...
Case in point: The Who.
Pearl Jam -- If the concert was outside Canada...
U2 as well.

Confusedcratch:

There are hundreds of bands/artists that would follow the Hip.

And no, I'm not going to name them all.

True. Nickelback, Coldplay, Chilli Peppers, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Radiohead, U2, Pearl Jam, Dylan, Young, Foo Fighters, Oasis,Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, etc.....

Out of all them, there are only about two bands that I'd say DESERVE to follow The Hip, but that's just me. Big Grin

Call me crazy but I wouldn't pay 10 dollars to see Aerosmith play. Now 10 years ago I would have dropped 100 to see them but that was pre "Just Push Play" and "Pink" The hip do not need to be opening for a band that sold out to what the Pop Loving Music Machine wanted. Give me a good old Gord Downie NOIS-Dream On-Nois ranting energy filled track and I'd be there in a heart beat.

Well, I'd say Neil deserves to have The Hip open and that's about it. Maybe Dylan. I think The Hip are a better band than Pearl Jam, Radiohead, and U2.

I think the Hip are a better band than Brittney Spears is a singer. Just barely though.
