I just got back from New York last night, what a trip! A friend of our family lives in New Jersey, so we got to see as much as we could in 4 days!

As for the Rangers game, it was unreal, way better than i imagined! Marcel Hossa got the game off to a great start by scoring on a breakaway about a minute into the first, and the crowd was buzzing the rest of the night. I couldn't believe how loud the crowd was whenever the Rangers scored a goal, or when Henrik Lundqvist (he's been unbelievable the last 20 games) made a big save, or even when Ryan Hollweg through a monster hit. And i was very impressed with Jaromir Jagr, he worked his ass off the entire game, and my god the moves that man has!
The game ended up going to a shootout, and all i can say is they are some entertaining! The whole building was on it's feet, and although the Rangers came up just short, it was still an awesome night.

Afterwards we were coming down the esculators at MSG and i happened to glance behind me, and who else but Gary Bettman is standing behind us

I thought we were going to be busy with the Keystone thing on Saturday night, but it was over by 4, otherwise i would of gotten tickets to see them play the Columbus Blue Jackets, i made a last ditch effort to get tickets, but no such luck.

The problem you would have is that 20-25% of the Canadian population wants to see the Laffs play on HNIC, no matter who they are playing, no matter how bad they are playing. They continue to sell out every game no matter who they are playing, no matter how bad they are playing. It's almost not even about the hockey itself, but the name of the team. Similar to the Yankees in the U.S. Except the Yankees actually win sometimes.

So show the Leafs game locally, and mix it up sometimes and show Ottawa, or Mtl, or another Canadian team nationally...

I agree. It wouldn't do us any good here in Buffalo, though, we end up getting CBC with the feed from Toronto.

Nick Kypreos just said on Sportsnet (there is a Mark Messier ceremony on right now) that Gary Roberts was pulled off the ice this afternoon & told he was traded, but he still has to decide whether to waive his no trade clause or not. If so, it looks like Pittsburgh is the team.

I think if I was Waddell I'd ask Muckler how that Gerber contract is working out for the Sens. If it wasn't for Theodore Gerber would be the highest paid backup goalie in the NHL.

Yeah, Muckler isn't the best at trades. Gonchar, Gerber, Arnason. I think the Comrie trade was a very good one, as it cost the Sens next to nothing and has already been paying off. But at any rate Waddell will lose his job as soon as the Thrashers narrowly miss the playoffs, and Muckler won't have given an arm and a leg for a washed-up veteran.

I love how Emery has emerged as the no.1 in Ottawa, looks good on em for not showing some faith in him or at the least given him the chance to really prove himself. They just ran out and bought Gerber thinking he would solve all the problems...like Wayne would say..yeah right!

If Muckler had any brains he would of went for Nabokov or Toskala, it dont matter I dont see Ottawa winning in the playoffs anyway that team is cursed.

The Thrashers are taking a risk by trying to win this year. There's nothing wrong with that. Heck, the Thrashers are the same organization that drafted Patrick Stefan #1 overall so maybe they don't value a first round draft pick as highly as other teams. A lot of draft picks just don't pan out. Look at Vancouver. Their last good first rounder was Ohlund. Well, other than the Sedins. :lol:

Canucks acquire Sopel and Smolinski. The Sopel deal surprises me but anyway. These players can't make the team any worse but I don't know how much better they can make it either. I was ecstatic when the Canucks finally got rid of Sopel but he's better than Fitzpatrick so.... Maybe the top 6 will be Mitchell, Bieksa, Ohlund, Salo, Kraijeck, Sopel and Rory will ride the pine. I'm fine with the deals.

Draft picks don't exactly pan out for the Rangers either! I can't remember the last time they've had a 1st rounder actually become a big time impact player for them, especially when you take into consideration that they've been picking pretty high since 1998.

I like them too. They didn't give up much. Sopel was one of my least favourites BUT he was used as a primary defensemen back then and now, I think he'll be more like 4th or 5th on the depth chart. Smolinski can't hurt since other that Sedin and Morrison, the Canucks have bums at the centre position.
