I've got 15,000+ tracks in my iTunes library so the thought of a fried hard drive scares the bejeebus out of me. I use an external hard drive to back my library up...but I only do that about once every two or three months, so this service seems ideal as it knows when you've added new tracks to your library and automatically backs them up for you.

I don't know if the price point ($69USD) is ideal if you've only got a few hundred tracks, but since it is unlimited storage and I've got a pretty large library, I think it's a fair price.

Word of caution though.....right now it seems pretty slow. I've had it running for about 3 hours and it's only backed up 78 songs. Of course that's likely an issue with Shaw more than anything else.....

Oh yeah.......Mac only (at this point).

Depending on the size of your music collection, yes (and I mentioned that I also use an external hard drive in my original post). The benefit of this service is that rather than having to manually back up everything to the external hard drive a few times a month (for people who frequently add music to their collection), this does it automatically.

So how is it working...how many have you transferred already? Is there any way to stream or play your music from this site? That would be something I'

Pretty slow.....369 of 15360. It's gonna take awhile. But again, I think that's a Shaw thing.....

It doesn't allow you to stream, but this service does (and it's PC friendly):

I used that service before, specially for streaming my music at work (ha!) but it crashed too many times and I gave up on it. That was last year, so it might be better now.....

There are a number of free (and even more if you're willing to spend a few bucks...) back-up programs for the Mac (and PC, I'd imagine) that will do this (to an external USB/FireWire drive) on a daily/scheduled basis for you...

I hear that. That's happened twice to me, felt like the end of the world.

I am so careful now and also have an external hard drive. Thanks for this though, interesting read.

i backed my up to discs a while back with the program igadget it transfers i tunes librarys to other computers which i will do some day transfer to my laptop
