I know there are lots of Ron Hawkins fans around these parts. He's playing solo this Friday night at the Rivoli. Only $10 - a steal to see one of the best songwriters around.

Damn. As usual, all the good shows are in f**king Toronto. I was lucky enough to see Ron play a solo acoustic gig at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec (near Ottawa). My buddy and I sat at a table right in front of the stage, had a couple of beers and just basked in the awesome-ness. It was fantastic. Great venue too! His new solo album should be out fairly soon, and I have no doubt it'll probably end up on my year-end top 10 list for 2007. This guy is definitely one of our greatest songwriting treasures. It's a shame he's so underrated.

That actually might be one of the most accurate discriptions ever on this board. And seeing as how I fell almost as strongly about "Subversives" as I do about "Allison", I think I may use that.

It was an incredible show...at times Ron had a sold out Rivoli completely and I mean completely dead quiet. If you're interested, here's the song "Small Victories" from the set...more to come this week.

I freakin' LOVE that song. It might be my all time favorite Ron Hawkins tune. Can't wait to hear the new record!
