Is this song a GDownie original, if so, why the frig isn't this on one of his albums. This is by far one of the best songs I've ever heard GD sing. Such Simple Lyrics, yet so... Je ne sais quoi, memorable.

Now, I may change my mind from time to time but I'd say "Zuma" is Neil's best album. His string of albums in the 70's is just astonishingly brilliant. "After the Gold Rush" and "Harvest" might not even be in my top four records in the 70's for Neil either and those are two of his most acclaimed. "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere", "On The Beach", "Tonight's the Night", "Zuma", and "Live Rust" are superb.

"Barstool Blues" is so great and if there's a better song to just sit back, close your eyes, and chill to than "Danger Bird", I'd like to hear it.

i too am a huge fan of 70s Neil. well, actually i'm a fan of all neil, but without a doubt my favourite LP of his from the 70s is On the Beach. however, that is closely followed by Time Fades Away. thanks to Neil not releasing the "Missing 6" on CD (now know as the "Missing 2") it started me into my vinyl obsession. several years ago i had to listen to those records so badly that I dusted off the record player and bought the 6 records. now i own all of neil's records on vinyl, and whenever something new (by any artist that i'm into) is released on vinyl, i buy it instead of the CD. now, if i'd could get off my lazy butt and transfer the vinyl onto CD, I'd be set.

btw tiger, i love your avatar. i catch myself staring at it daily. neil, dylan and danko on the same stage, wow!!

Yep, pretty heavy hitters. Apparently Danko was a big reason why "Tonight's the Night" was released when it was. He was in a room with Neil and others and Neil put on "TTN" and Danko said he has to release it. This was sometime in 1975. As you probably know, (since you sound like you have more Neil music than me and vinyl to boot) "Tonight's the Night" was recorded in '73 but not released until 1975 I believe. I don't have "Shakey" with me now to check but, was "Homegrown" ever released as an LP? I don't think it was.

"Shakey" is indeed my bible for all thing Neil. There's no sugarcoating of Neil and his actions, like tends to be the case in a lot of biographies. Neil's life is documented, warts and all; Neil Young is guilty for hurting a lot of people and I wouldn't condone a lot of his actions.

It is a great song. It's on "Zuma" if you want to hear the original by Neil, which of course is superb. Gord can really do justice to Bob and Neil songs.
