I am dying to hear more Gord Downie solo! We all know he is writing stuff. Is he recording?

Just to hazard a guess, but me thinks that Gord's pretty busy along with the rest of the boys. My guess would be next summer, if anything...but that's just my opinion.

He told us back in December that he had a bunch of material for a solo album, but the guys in the band managed to convince him to let them have it. So, the '06 Hip album may have some of the eclectic charm of Gord's past solo efforts.

I hope he does more solo stuff as well, and hopefully he'll come to London like Bobby did with Strippers Union. I imagine he would do a show in Toronto though.

Well... World Container is out now, but there is the inevitable question that remains. When will Gord release some solo stuff. I hope we'll see something in sprin/summer of 2007

Met Gord Downie outside MacEwan Hall in late October. Corby asked him if we'll be getting any solo stuff anytime soon, and Gord said that some WC songs were headed that way, like In View and Family Band, but that him and Rob found a way to make it work with the group. Looks like we'll have to wait longer for some solo...he did mention he prefered to record with the band anyway.

In 2005 at the Holiday Jam, we were told the same thing when we asked Gord about a new solo effort: http://hipfans.com/?p=61

You know, I'd also like another poetry collection. CMG had a few misses but most of it is amazing and I would really like to see more of it.
