Would something like this ever be entertained by the band, and appreciated by the fans?
- Have the 4 band members head out on the road to celebrate the songs and the music with the fans.
- They play the music, and introduce the songs.
- The jumbotrons relay the lyrics for the fans to sing the words by following the bouncing ball.
- a microphone stand and top hat at the Center stage in Gord’s honour.
- Would be a great way for an arena full of fans to belt out their Hip songs in a choir of sound.
- The band could have a chance to dig deep into their full catalog. Maybe even slipping in some very deep tracks.
- Would also be a chance for the American Hip fans to “Say Goodbye” as they didn’t have a chance last tour.
- Could be a way that the Hip continue to be present veterans in the music industry, and bring along up and coming opening acts like Kasador, or conveniently, Miss Emily, Strippers Union, Paul Langlois. Or maybe this could be the beginning of Another Roadside Attraction festival reboot...
- Ticket prices could be much more reasonable for shows like this, ranging from $25 for upper deck to $70 for floor.
- A “Burning Church Choir” Inspired Tour Poster would be fitting and epic for this tour.
- Of course this would need to only be considered once the band felt “ready” and in the right mind frame, for such a venture.
- Any other ideas? Or opinions?

I would go to this. And sing and laugh and cry. But I doubt it will happen.

Honestly, I'm not keen on the idea of the Hip touring without Gord D. In my opinion it would just cheapen the incredible experience we all had in 2016.
That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a one-off Gord Downie tribute concert where the band brings up various guest singers to play the songs. Maybe something similar to the Leonard Cohen tribute they did back in November. Get people like Neil Young, Sarah Harmer, Kate Fenner, Sam Roberts, Keeler & Cuddy, Hugh Dillon, Andy Maize from the Skydiggers, and then mix in some younger artists along with the older vets. I think this would be a more realistic idea, and I wouldn't be surprised if something like this is already in the planning stages.

The Hip will never play another show ever. It’s impossible. Because the Hip aren’t the Hip without Gord. That’s all there is to it, personally.

It's all about legacy now. They went out in a way that could never be scripted, heart breaking news that turned into a country-wide goodbye and a nation wide celebration. I don't think they need to say goodbye again.

While I don't love this idea, I love it infinitely more than them "replacing" Gord with anyone doing lead vocals on stage.
They went out on the highest note of any band of all time, and I would be happier to see the remaining 4 devote their efforts to creating new art if they feel inspired. Or to enjoy their retirement after 30 years on the road. No need to tarnish their legacy by allowing anyone to say they became a nostalgia act or tried to cash in following Gord's death.

I couldn't imagine sitting through an entire concert of his. A song or two would be cool, but not an entire show. Also not a fan of the band touring in any capacity without Gord.

I'm not interested in seeing any version of this
Honestly...i've never given any thought to seeing a Hip cover or tribute band.... doesn't interest me in the least
I struggle with the thought of any future unreleased songs that may get released and the thought of never seeing them played live
not trying to be a downer ... just being honest

Just curious,
Say a rarities or a B side type of album is put together for release. And for interest sake, lets say there are some Gord vocal recordings that exist, poetry readings or rough vocals to a song etc. What would you think if the band added to the track and produced it into a new song?
I know this has been done by others, including the Beatles. Just curious what your thoughts are if the rest of the band did something like this in a couple years?
