grimes Wrote:As an impartial viewer, I gotta say that was one hell of a game. These two teams are definitely in a class by themselves and I can't see how there's any debate as to what the BCS title game should be now. What a joke to see that USC is ahead of Michigan in the coaches poll this week. Let's review the top one-loss teams:
Michigan lost by 3 at Ohio State
Notre Dame got beat handily by Michigan
Florida lost to a two-loss Auburn team
USC lost to unranked Oregon State
Arkansas got smoked by USC
Here's hoping the Irish can pull off a win at the coliseum this Saturday, and thereby pretty much guarantee an Ohio State-Michigan rematch for the national championship.
I agree, as a
partial viewer, that Michigan is the best 1-loss team. And I do think that the best matchup for the National Championship is Michigan versus Ohio State.
But do I think that there
should be a UM / OSU rematch for the championship?
Hells no.
Why not?
Well, because Michigan would then, strangely enough,
gain an advantage by losing to OSU Saturday.
How so?
Because OSU would have to go 2-0 against UM, in back-to-back games, to win the National Championship, while UM would only have to go 1-1 vs. OSU to be national champs.
That seems unfair and just plain wrong to me.
As a Buckeye fan, I guess I'm forced to root for USC to win out, even though I hate them.
