Creating a Gord Downie "Best of" Album
#16

I'm going to make things easier by omitting Battle of the Nudes to free up space.

Vancouver Divorce
The Never Ending Present
Trick Rider
Lofty Pines
Chancellor

The Dance and Its Disappearance
Yellow Days
Drowning Machine
As a Mover

Crater
Conquering Sun
I'm Free, Disarray Me

Seven Matches
Secret Path
Haunt Them, Haunt Them, Haunt Them

Though I think if one was ever made, it would inevitably feature The Stranger and The East Wind. It's strange picking individual songs from Secret Path as it works so effectively as an album and narrative, plus I'd argue almost every song on it would have a claim of belonging here.

Every song on every solo album would be my choice, and possibly his.

For the first time in a long time I listened to the live version of "Every Irrelevance" Gord recorded with The Rheostatics. Man, that's a killer version. One of those great Napster discoveries in the late 90s. I remember actually being a little underwhelmed with the version on Coke Machine Glow at first - only because I loved this live version so much...I missed the " We'll get over it this time...this time" line at the end. Although I am glad in the studio version Gord ditched the "Catharsis, my arse is..." line  . I wonder, are there many live records of Gord's solo sutff? I see lots of YouTube videos, but most have piss-poor audio. I'd love to have a little best-of Gord live too.

My wedding song. Love it.
We had two wedding songs.
My wife picked our first dance song and I got this as the next song for our wedding party dance.
