Courage (for Gord) Crowd Sing-Along
#1

Assuming the that band is not going to play Courage this tour, wouldn't it be a wonderful gesture for the all of the Fans in the arena to sing "Courage" a capella during the first encore break?
It's the least we can do to show our support at the concert, to add a special touch to the evening.
I'm thinking that perhaps the best way to go about this is to email the idea to the local rock stations, who could print out lyric sheets to hand out to everyone with instructions at the doors. Once it would catch on at one Hip Concert, it would be come tradition throughout the rest of the tour.
What are your thoughts?

did the band say they aren't going to play it?

They haven't officially made any statement, however, it is one of their most popular songs and has been absent on the first 2 shows of the tour. The lyrics may be emotional to sing, given the health news of Mr. Downie. It couldn't come at a worse time...

I like your idea. But, I really think they will play it. Like many of their songs with the awful news they seem to have new meaning...I'm sure many songs are extremely emotional, each for different reasons....

Was cool to hear though. I think every FC song is on the table for this tour, given that they rehearsed and played them repeatedly in 2015.

Wait. Is my idea actually happening?!

August 16 – Kingston Leads Nation in Courage. #kingstonleadsnationincourage
Members of the Facebook group The Tragically Hip Fan Forum are planning a special thank you to the Tragically Hip on Saturday August 20, 2016. The 7,000 fans inside the K-Rock Centre plan to sing Courage between the main music set and the encore. With the promotional assistance from local media and CBC’s live television, radio and digital broadcast of the final Man Machine Poem tour performance, Kingston hopes to lead a national sing- a- long for fans watching at community viewing parties, pubs, restaurants and in living rooms across Gord’s great country.
For many fans of The Tragically Hip, the band’s music has provided the soundtrack to our lives. Most us can’t yet imagine a day when we aren’t looking forward to new music from The Hip or anticipating the band’s next tour. But in case August 20, 2016 in Kingston turns out to be that day, the country will sing to say thank you to Gord, Rob, Paul, Gord, and Johnny for bringing us together once again; it wouldn’t have been possible without your Courage.

It's going to be awkward if they close the main set with Courage Smile

Agree! Or the good possibility that is the song coming up in the encore?

Perhaps a more obscure track that is less possible they will perform? Hands up and 7000 strong for Coconut Cream?? Big Grin :thumb:

In all seriousness though, it is a pretty cool idea and I hope it works out well.

Butts Wigglin' -- everyone together, the sweet sound of patent approval....

It is a neat idea -- one of the less crazy things I've read on the facebook page over recent weeks.

I wonder if MAv can encourage the A/V team to put the song lyrics on the jumbotrons so that it sounds crystal clear on CBC.

I'm glad CBC is finally running with this. I thought it was too late in the game.

Will certainly join in on this!

Yeah but Courage is going to be on the setlist... So I dunno....

Us hardcore Hipbasers should try and serenade to Here, In The Dark and really impress the boys lol

People seem really keen on hearing the EP -- crowd version of I'm a Werewolf, Baby.
