Setlist format....

Naga Wrote:Can I dream that either Impossibilium or Emergency get played?

Impossibilium is my 1a song to hear live, tied with No Threat. I almost think there is a chance on this tour that they get played; it seems everything is fair game!

Still no IBE or IVL to be played? Kinda shocked. My picks :

IVL :
Darkest One
Dire Wolf
Dark Canuck
Doesn't matter

IBE :
Vaccination Scar
Goodnight Josephine
Makeshift
Heart of the Melt

So many from IBE. Underrated.

At this rate they should cover 5 or 6 from each record. Another thread suggested Kingston will be a greatest hits show. I somehow don't see that if they keep with this format . Vancouver 2 was as about as good as it gets. And they seem to be gaining confidence and energy . No matter what this is easily the best tour in a lot of years. The band sound as good as ever.

i am loving the setlists so far

does the band leave the stage during these mini sets or are they on stage all night, till the encore(first break)

Maybe no love for IBE or ILV this tour? No complaints (although I'd like to hear it) but maybe they're not going to showcase those albums.....

and as an afterthought, I'd love for Baker to haul out the pedal steel for Vaccination Scar!

We still have a bunch of shows to go. Be patient!

Hope that's not the case, both could have an epic 4 song set

It's A Good LIfe If you Don't Weaken
The Darkest One
The Dire Wolf
The Dark Canuck

Vaccination Scar
It Can't Be Nashville Every Night
Gus
Goodnight Josephine

I picked Nashville, cause I always wonder if they ever did work out the lyrics......

FYI - the band leaves the stage for a short time after the Man Machine Poem song set (so far, after the 8th song of the show) for a brief "stage reconfiguration break". Otherwise they stay on the stage through the main set (except Gord, who I think has a "wardrobe change" at some point while the band play out the end of whatever song occurs at that point).

The only "druther" I have about the current set format is that they could potentially do 4x 3 song sets after the MMP section instead of 3x 4 song sets - that would let them cover material from 8 albums a show as opposed to the 7 albums they cover with the current format (or even slip in a couple of 2 song sets in place of a 4 song set, or split things up 3+3+2 over 8 songs).

Yes, I know that they can't realistically "please everyone" or represent the entire discography in one night (or even over multiple nights) - but they could cover a bit more of the discography without too much change in the format, and without potentially "shortchanging" albums (whether they are popular ones or not).

And yeah, I know - it's their band and they're the ones who play the songs, so their decision. But I'm sure that there are a few folks in Victoria who would have liked to have heard a couple of songs from Day For Night, or folks at the second night in Vancouver who would have liked a couple from Up To Here, even if it meant a couple less from another album(s).

Don't get me wrong - regardless, I'm glad we are all getting a chance to see them. The majority of us would likely be happy if the set was exclusively composed of Norwegian carpenters songs (Monty Python reference, for you youngsters out there).

8. In Sarnia

(Phantom Power set)
9. Fireworks
10. Poets
11. Bobcaygeon
12. Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin Man

(Road Apples set)

I always dreamed of an iPod shuffle setlist.

Now that setlist would be epic and incoherent as fuck.

Those of us who attended Victoria and Van 1 may have hit it absolutely perfectly, especially those that find MAW lacking. Time will tell.

Same here, Emergency is one of my "most wanted" songs to hear them play live nowadays in addition to Cordelia/Fight/Bring It All Back/38 Years Old..
