Global Cred - Tea Party vs Tragically Hip
#1

No one knows who the Tragically Hip is in Istanbul. They know damn well know who the (expletive) Tea Party is".

Kind of a silly thing for him to say, considering the Hip have never toured or released any records in that part of the world. Obviously they wouldn't be as well known over there, whereas the Tea Party have actually played shows in those areas. Pretty sure Martin has done some solo touring over there as well. But why even mention that in his interview? Seems like he's just trying to be a douche and stir shit up.

Yeah, I saw this, Global News put it on their facebook page and I lost my mind when I saw it on my newsfeed. What a meaningless article. Very odd. I started just posting in comment sections of random global news posts, like the link to a video of a great white shark getting a shocked reaction out of a newsteam and I said, 'that shark has never heard of The Tea Party. I am not saying the TP suck but global cred! Kanye West has more global cred too. So....

In fact, Martin pre-emptively asks the first question of the conversation: "As far as a rock trio is concerned, has there ever been a band in Canada that has been so adventurous, as far as instrumentation and actually achieving it?"

Is this guy serious?? I don't know, maybe a band called Rush, you know the biggest rock trio not only in Canada, but probably the world??

I have to say, I was never a big fan, I liked some of the Tea Party's music, but never owned a CD of theirs. After reading this, I am glad I never gave them any support. What an arrogant ass

He's always been like that. His favorite topic of conversation is himself. His ego aside though, I still love that band. I caught them live last year in Calgary on their reunion tour and they blew me away as always. One of the best live bands out there, hands down.

So ... I was at the Tea Party show Saturday night in Toronto at Massey Hall .

Jeff Martin made it perfectly clear to all there that the media reporting this was incorrect and completly out of context.

Followed up with a rousing rendition of 'Temptation' .

I love the Tea Party. I love the Hip too. The two band are totally different. Its like The Beatles vs The Stones for me. With The Hip being the Stones and win.
