Just like last year at a different location, The Hip were hired to perform at a backyard concert last night in Hamilton on Auchmar Rd.
I'd say setlist to come but I am pretty sure you can all guess exactly what it was.
Article tomorrow in The Spectator.

I wish I was invited to this party. As it is only a few minutes from where I live.

After eating dinner on Locke street, my dad says “wow someone's really blasting Poets from their backyard". Quickly realized it was the real deal and headed for the mountain. I only heard Nautical, Bobcaygeon and Little Bones. Other people had caught on earlier and had snuck into nearby backyards to watch. Apparently the family hosting the show own three huge neighbouring lots right on the escarpment and were able to secure a midnight noise curfew.Too cool (literally, too cool for anyone but invited guests)!

Wow! Was this some kind of corporate event for contest winners? Or is the owner of the house a millionaire? Just curious as to how this show got put together. Reminds me of when the Foo Fighters played a series of shows in fans' garages a few years ago:

What I have gathered from the rumour mill in Hamilton, it was someone's birthday party. It was also the 3rd time they have played that backyard.

The owner of the house and who's birthday it was, is part of a large home builder family in Hamilton/Burlington. My wife used to work for the brother who is the lawyer for the family.

I'm just surprised that they either got a permit, or that the local noise laws were not enforced. Makes you wonder if the guy, being a rich developer, had contacts at city hall that exempt him from the normal rules.
