I bought the vinyl just yesterday.
Needless to say Saturday night had a great soundtrack.

Ehem, speaking of masterpieces. Simply stated In Rainbows is easily one of the best releases of the first decade of this century. And this little gift from the band is a gem ...

These basement sessions are what made me fall in love with these two albums.
For some reason I was never able to find an audio copy of the basement sessions. (Sad emoticon goes here)

Been heavy into this Queen album recently.
Queen - News of the World
![[Image: Queen-News-Of-The-World-425543.jpg]](http://eil.com/images/main/Queen-News-Of-The-World-425543.jpg)
It opens with the instantly recognizable one-two punch of
We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions, but its what follows that makes this record special.
Sheer Heart Attack is classic quick and heavy Queen (it has heavy shades of
Stone Cold Crazy.
Spread Your Wings is as powerful of a Queen ballad that you may find on any Queen album.
Get Down, Make Love slowly builds upon itself, until one of Freddy's crescendo moments, where it sounds like his vocal chords may tear any second.
It's Late has one of the catchiest riffs I have ever heard, as is quickly climbing as one of my all-time favourite Queen songs.
And last, but definitely not least, is Roger Taylor's
Fight From The Inside. Probably the best bass line I've ever heard in a Queen tune.

I'm gonna duck back in to obscurity now.
Def a favourite album. No Sleep hits me right in the feels.
Welcome back! Always love it when an Hipbase oldtimer swings by that hasn't been around for a while.
Hope all is well Jenna!

Not so much re-discovered, but now appreciate. When I was a kid I hated the Eagles, growing up in the 1970s heard them way too much. Then as I got older, Don Henley's solo stuff drove me crazy. Add to that, never-ending reunion tours and reading that their last album (the live album) credits a multitude of lawyers.
Then I was in Mexico around Cabo, and there's a town nearby with a "Hotel California". Now the really funny thing is there's no association between the band and the hotel, to the point there's a letter online from Don Henley's lawyer stating there's no connection between the and and the hotel. But you still get all these tourist goofs wandering around in Eagles shirts, and Eagles music is unavoidable.
Then sitting on a patio, warm night watching the sun go down over the ocean...suddenly it clicked. I forgot all about my notions on band members, hearing some of the songs thousands of times, and really listened to the instruments, vocals, and production. Right place, right time the music made sense to me.
