On February 26, 2014 thompson girl Wrote:The studio version sounds great, but both times I've seen Gord with the Sadies, his voice has been overpowered by the music and left me walking away hating it. Still, I will give them another shot at Fieldtrip.
Yep, he won me back yesterday. Like others have said, he seems refreshed and excited again. Maybe it helped that I knew the songs more than the first two times as well. I left disappointed that it was only a 40min set.

From what I heard, Gord played a song with BSS later in the night. I was wondering if he'd show up in Fucked Up's set.

He did. He sang the backup on Fucked Up's 'The Art of Patrons' and sounded, um, atrocious. He redeemed himself by completing the hat trick afterwards and dueting with Kevin Drew on BSS's 'Texico Bitches.'

Brilliant show in Calgary the other night. The sound wasn't the greatest, but that's par for the course when you're playing inside a giant plastic tent at the Stampede. That being said, the Sadies fuckin' rocked and Gord's vocals were spot on. It's been a good couple of years since I've heard him sing that well. He's still got it, folks. (now if only he'd do that with the Hip :nooooo )

He was also much more animated than I thought he'd be, even working in a couple of mid-song rants here and there. All in all it was a killer performance from the entire band.

Oh, and this is still my favorite album of the year so far. It's just so goddamn good.

Ya Atlin was deadly had a Conga line too lol

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
