Don't forget Death Cab for Cutie as well. I've been debating on getting tickets for this one because they're forcing everyone to pay for both days (no single-day tix available), which kind of annoys me. That being said I'll probably end up going anyway.

Business travel and happenstance puts puts me at the Hilton Providence RI a couple of blocks away from Lupos Heartbreak Hotel where the billboard declared an evening with Interpol. Its an old decrepit theater in downtown Providence that offers ghosts of an era gone by and the locals with not so famous talent, but worthy hard working bands. I'm a massive Interpol fan so bliss is an understatement when I walked away from the box office with a $15 GA ticket to the show. If you ever get a chance to catch this band in a small venue don't hesitate, simply amazing!

Gord & the Sadies are playing this year's Calgary Stampede on July 9th at the Wildhorse Saloon. I'm really looking forward to this. It'll be incredibly refreshing to hear Gord actually sing for a change.

So on Friday night I was supposed to see Neko Case at the Sled Island festival here in Calgary. Turns out she had some travel issues and was forced to cancel her gig. Anyone who bought tickets were given a full refund and the event went on as planned, but as a free show with Joel Plaskett taking over the headlining slot. Kudos to the festival organizers and Mr. Plaskett for making it a memorable night, despite the absence of Neko. Joel and the Emergency were awesome as usual, and everybody had a rockin' rain-soaked good time.

It's been a great Stampede so far here in Cowtown. Saw Matthew Good on Friday night at the Coca-Cola stage. Awesome show. A little too short for my liking, but the show was basically free, so that`s a minor complaint. Setlist:

Holy crap that's a lot of music! Most of those acts I've never even heard of but it looks fantastic. Try not to miss "That 1 Guy", absolutely awesome performer. Invented and personally manufactured the The Broken Bowflex, or some people call it the Magic Pipe. Has to be seen live to truly appreciate what the guy is doing.

Peaches should be damn good too... my sisters' Masters thesis was a case study on Peaches and Gender Role in popular culture. She reminds me of Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs mixed with a heavy dose of Iggy Pop.
