Painting of Gord Downie
#1

Hi guys,

I'm a grad student and sometimes artist from Sarnia, Ontario, and a longtime Hip fan. Last night I had the honour of having Gord Downie sign a painting I did of him after the show at The Fillmore in Detroit (yes, I'm the tall dorky guy in the picture below). I have prints of the signed painting available through my RedBubble portfolio (link below) if anyone is interested. Thanks for having a look!

Ricky looks so close to laying a beat down.

Thanks!

Yeah, the security guy tried to push us away before we even got to say hi to Gord. There were only my girlfriend, me, my two friends, and a couple of other fans we didn't know. It's not like there was a huge crowd that tried to rush Gord and Rob when they came out. We'd stood out there in the cold parking lot for almost two hours after the show waiting for Gord to come out (Johnny and Gord Sinclair had come out earlier, then Paul), and there was no way we were leaving without at least shaking Gord's hand. He really liked the painting, and stood and looked at it for a few good moments before signing it and asked my name. All of the guys in the band were super friendly, they each took the time to shake our hands and ask how we were doing.
