Rarest song live??
#1

So with all the excitement following the performance of Fiddler's Green in Calgary on Saturday night, could you please tell me about any songs that have NEVER been played live or ones that are very very rarely heard live.
I have only seen The Hip live twice so am fairly new at this and would love to hear your stories so I can keep an ear out for anything of that calibre next Saturday night in Vancouver!!! Thanks!!! Big Grin

All I'm hearin' is youuuuuuuu

If you just go to the song stats section listed in the tabs at the top of this page, you can see how many times every song has been played.

The songs stats are here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.hipbase.com/stats/songs.php?start_date=1980-01-01&end_date=2009-12-31">http://www.hipbase.com/stats/songs.php? ... 2009-12-31</a><!-- m -->

There are many, many songs that have only been played once and probably some that have never been played, but I don't know off hand which those would be.

Essentially every song you'd know has been played live at least once.

What about Born in the Water? If memory serves me right, they've only ever played that once.

Does anyone honestly think they'll ever play anything off EP? I think if they do it'll be Highway Girl (hopefully the last song played that night), but what if they pulled out a gem like Killing Time or Cemetery Sideroad? Those are two fantastic songs.

I don't know why that EP gets so much flack. I guess relatively speaking, it's terrible. But for what it is, I think it's incredible.

My girlfriend is praying that they play "A Beautiful Thing". Since, the first time she heard it, it has been her favourite. I looked it up and has been played 22 times. Any chance?

me too, I love that song. They could play anything from Music @ Work and I wouldn't complain. Seeing Lake Fever and Putting Down back on a few setlists is nice to see. Also the Completists or Train Overnight would be incredible. I'm a little suprised Cordelia hasn't been pulled out yet. Hopefully the upcoming arean tour will follow the same trend as these recent club tours as far as setlist variation.

I think its time they dusted off Eldorado and played it, Born in the Water would be cool as well.

Since they seem to be playing varied sets and dipping into the past on this tour so much, its really a shame they aren't being put up for download like before.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Doubt they've ever played Night is For Getting. Upon checking, nope!

I have a strong feeling that "Montreal" will be played at one of the (of course) Montreal shows. That song is among the absolute rarest.

They played Eldorado in Guelph, which was VERY cool to hear.

I wish they would play The Bear, which I don't think they've ever done live. Montreal in Montreal would blow me away. And it would be awesome if they brought back Another Midnight, a great song played not nearly enough.
