Song stats

Forgive me, this has probably been discussed ad nauseum in the past but I wasn't able to find much by searching.

Is there a list of Hip tunes somewhere on the net that includes the last time they were played live? I'd love to know which song has gone the longest without appearing in a show. Also curious to know which tunes the boys have shelved over the years. I know 38 Years Old and Fiddler's Green have made fairly recent comebacks. I also know we're not likely to hear anything from the EP any time soon.

Anyone know of such a record?

The Hip website has all of that, but it's not the easiest to find nor does it provide a quick snapshot (somebody prove me wrong please). Check out: http://www.thehip.com/archive/get_allSongs.html and then click the song you are interested in and the song history on the far right of when it has been played live.

Somebody (on the base)'s website provided a lot of the data for the Hip's website I believe. They probable have a lot of the data until a few years ago. Anybody remember who it was?

Thanks, guys. That's a start.

Has Small Town Bringdown, their first biggish song, really not been played since 1989?

None of the stuff from the EP has been played in recent memory. Can you really blame them, it's an EP they released 25 years ago...

There's no doubt in my mind if they played songs from this live again it would rock the house down. Highway Girl (Double Suicide) anyone?

agree. Theres a few songs on the EP i'd love to hear live, LAE, STB, Killing time,...

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I was with a group who hung out after the 2007 Rochester show waiting for the band, got a chance to meet each one. Someone asked about the stuff on the EP and I recall Rob saying that Gord got sick of people requesting the same rants (like Double Suicide) over and over again, so they got out of the habit of playing those songs.

Of course, they never stopped playing NOIS, no matter how often people ask for the Killer Whale Tank. So take that however you want.

Nice job on that list.
Here is another you can add: I'm A Werewolf Baby: 3/2/1988

By this list, here are the songs I believe are 'retired'. I've included all songs (according to the site) that haven't been played in at least 10 years or so. I also included a couple songs from IBE that haven't been played since that tour in 2004.

Everything from the EP
I'll Believe in You (1994)
She Didn't Know (1991)
When The Weight Comes Down (1989)
Trickle Down (2002)
Another Midnight (1991)
Born in The Water (1990)
Bring it All Back (1993)
The Luxury (2000)
Fight (1999)
Emergency
Butts Wigglin (1997)
Apartment Song (2000)
Coconut Cream (1997)
Wild Mountain Honey (2000)
As I Wind Down The Pines
The Darkest One (2003)
All Tore up (2002)
A Beautiful Thing (2002)
The Heart of the Melt (2004)
One Night in Copenhagen (2004)

Some of these are a real shame. Others, not so much.

sorry to interfere with all this madness, but I'm pretty sure trickle down played in 2002 was a mistake, I'm almost 100 percent sure it was puttin down. I still can't believe that some songs don't see the light of day, hip fans like me would go nuts and certainly not expect any crazy rant added
