God damned, that's a good one.
Except for A Beautiful Thing. That's a weak tune. Dire Wolf and Dark Canuck are a solid one-two punch at the end of IVL.

Fair enough. To each his own. I got into The Hip around TATH but the first album I really got into was FC. I like the newer stuff, too. I really like IBE. A Beautiful Thing never really did it for me. But, again, to each his own.

I really like "A Beautiful Thing" too, just not so much at that spot on the album. It just doesn't sound right sandwiched between "Leave" and "The Dire Wolf." I've always thought if you could swap its place with "Throwing Off Glass" or maybe "It's a Good Life if You Don't Weaken" then you'd have the strongest ending run of any Hip album.
Ninja Edit: try swapping it out for Sherpa and getting whacked out of your mind first :thumb:
Double Ninja Edit: IBT has like the best first-line delivery ever. "perspective comes thewayitalwaysdoes...for it's RAAAAAANSOM!"

IVL is the defining grower album. back half better than front, but for me alot of their albums are TATH (with the exception of coconut cream), PP, WC) A beautiful thing is also one of my favorites because of the story it evokes....3 o'clock in the morning......you better be dying, you were, so we talk about....classic lyrics.

Butts Wigglin, Apartment Song, Coconut Cream, Let's Stay Engaged, Sherpa, Put it Off
I've always been a big fan of this album, but it wasn't until I discovered tube amps and vinyl, that this album side went to a whole new level :music
