Name 5 albums that are currently kicking your ass

but I think I'm becoming obsessed with the Drive By Truckers, I can't stop listening to Decoration Day. I hear their live shows put their recorded music to shame, do they ever come near Canada?

They did come in support of the Dirty South, Lee's Palace, I didn't go which I kick myself for a lot.

The new Harper album is album of the year so far, easily. Probably will still be when the year is said and done.

rough harvest..i love that album...i wonder if mellencamp will get the recognition he deserves after he dies...i really don't think he gets enough credit..."i saw you first" on rough harvest has so much emotion in it..and on of my favorite lines "this loud cuban band is cruicifying john lennon"

It's excellent. What makes it for me is the movement from Key West Intermezzo into Jackie Brown, which is one of my top 20 favorite songs.

1. QOTSA- Lullabies to Paralyze
2. Sam Roberts- Chemical City
3. Jimi Hendrix- Ultimate Experience
4. Jim Morrison- An American Prayer
5. Megadeth- The World Needs a Hero

I havent listened to Jim's spoken album for quite some time, I thought it was time to have another listen, its very strange and unique. Its the only poetry I own and its rather compelling, very strange and kinda vulgar really. Not surprised it didn't penetrate the mainstream back then. But I think he was talented in writing poems and lyrics and meshing them together, its one of the things that makes The Doors special, nobody's done it better. [imo]

I can make the earth stop in
its tracks. I made the
blue cars go away.

I can make myself invisible or small.
I can become gigantic & reach the
farthest things. I can change
the course of nature.
I can place myself anywhere in
space or time.
I can summon the dead.
I can perceive events on other worlds,
in my deepest inner mind,
& in the minds of others.

I can

I am

yeah right, you guys need to get off this guy's dick, he writes some mighty boring shit IMO...but w/e, the real issue i have with your statement is that it's wrong, because...

THE NEW TOOL ALBUM COMES OUT MAY 2nd

and it will undoubtedly be leaps and bounds ahead of anything released in 06, and probably 07 and 08 too for that matter...runner up should probably be Pearl Jam, not to mention, Dr. Dre's long anticipated "Detox" is supposed to be released as well...and i don't care what any of you think, Dre is a musical genius, and his last album was one of the best hip-hop albums of all time.

I've tried to like this album because of all the hoopla surrounding it, but I just don't get it. What do you like about it?

Looking forward to that as well. Have you heard anything from it yet?

new single has leaked apparently, as have some other songs i think, BUT, i personally have refused to DL any of it, because I don't want to spoil buying it on May 2nd and then listening to it from start to finish without interruption, stoned out of my mind...Tool is the ONLY band on earth that i would do this for...they're special...not even my favourite band...but they make me feel and think in strange new ways...

BUT, i will do this for you, here are the lyrics to the single

"Vicariously"

Eye on the TV cuz tragedy thrills me.
Whatever flavor it happens to be.

Like. . .
Killed by the husband.
Drowned by the ocean.
Shot by his own son.
She used a poison in his tea, and kissed him goodbye.
It's my kind of story. No fun 'til someone dies.

Don't look me at like I am a monster.
Frown out your one face, but with the other stare like a junkie into the TV.
Stare like a zombie while the mother holds her child.
Watches him die. Hands to the sky, crying "Why, oh why?"

Cuz I need to watch things die (from a distance)
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies.
You all need it too, don't lie.

Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing.
Neither the brave nor bold will write us the story,
So we won't give pause until the blood is flowing.

I need to watch things die (from a good safe distance)
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies.
You all feel the same so why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain falling down.
Drawing on the grave and bound.

Part vampire.
Part warrior.
Carnivore and voyeur.
Stare at the transmittal.
Sing to the death rattle.

Incredulous at best is your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men.
Pull your head on out your head, and reason, give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again.

The universe is hostile, so impersonal.
Devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been.

We all feed on tragedy (it's like blood to a vampire)

Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies.
Much better you than I. . .
