Things You Hate

The Horrible Esthete Wrote:I miss the farm, too. I'll move back to the country someday...*sigh*...someday....

I just moved from the same neighbourhod you're all describing to a private place in the "country." Ahh, the peace and...BARK. You can't escape it here either.

Funny but to this story is, i went over and talked to the neighbour with the dog, politely working his dog's noise into the conversation. The next day, he put his house up for sale. :thumb:

Oh - but I'm talking acreage. I'm talking wooded tracts to serve as buffers. I'm talking no sight or sound of anything that isn't indigenous to my country - er - property, save the lonely whistle of that distant train overnight or the rumble of that silver jet, or that Federal Express Express guy who's delivering my barbed wire, infared cameras, trip mines, and assault rifles.

To get this thread back on track I hate the fact that farming is so shitty right now I had to move away and get a job and my 60 year old Dad is trying to farm 1700 acres by himself. I go home 2 weeks in spring to help seed and 2 weeks in fall to harvest but it just a tease. Dont see it getting any better any time soon either.

Here we have a neighbour on one side only, obviously the one with the dog, other than that, we're surrounded by about 80 acres of uncut, untouched forest.

Gotta love the trains, first night in, i was so releived to hear the echoing toot through the valley. Strange how that can be tolerable while a dog can put you off.

Me thinks he got the idea of moving up to Michigan and joining the militia after watching Jeff Daniel's Escanaba in the Moonlight

I wouldn't say I hate this, but it's a tad annoying...
When people refer to a poster by their first name when it's not in that person's user name. Wouldn't you think if a person wanted to be called by their actual name, they'd have used it or included it as their user name? :?

Hey,

Was that a good flick? My sister went to school at Northern, and I used to drive through there to see her. UP is so classic!!

Uh... no it wasn't. Although the fact it was brought up is pretty priceless.

So what do I hate right now? My paper on the history of CanCon, and Canadian Cultural policy as a branch of its foreign policy.

Topics like this make me hate Canadian history. I chose this thinking it would be interesting as hell -- it's been so bloody painful that I may just rant for 30 pages about how much Larry Gowan sucked and how he would have never made it out of a cover band if it weren't for subsidies.

But then again, he's the lead singer of Styx now, so I guess things kind of come full circle, singing someone else's songs for a living after all these years.

Half a page down, 29 and a half to go; plus some more research. Oy.

Cheers,

Pat

When your $600 xbox360 breaks and they charge you $180 dollars to replace it with a new one, and when you finally get the new one and it doesnt work, and you have to wait for a third one, which was promised last week but hasn't shown up yet....yah you get a little pissed.

Mine wasn't under warranty anymore, the manufacturer's warranty is only 3 months I believe.

1) Sliding into third on a triple, then realizing it's a gravel infield and your leg is now ground beef

1b) Having it get infected over the weekend and having to take antibiotics

2)Work. Or at least realizing I have to do this for another 25 years!
