ok, so ididn't read any of this thread....cuz as we all know...my opinion's the one that counts

...
You're not the ocean:
great opening track...it reminds me of mm@w...similar vibe...great sing-a-long song...love the lyrics...methinks there's a global warming metaphor tied in there...
At The Lonely End Of The Rink:
DAAAAAAAAAAAMN! fav song so far...it rocks, plain and simple (not that the song is plain and simple), dare i say their best "hovkey-song" yet? i love how it's hard rockin' and clean cut at once, and i also love that Killers'ish (pardon me, i'm just at a loss for a better term) thump as Gord sings "oh to join the rush"...it's maaaaaaaaaarvellous...and i swear this song is somehow connected to At The Heart Of The Melt...as both speak of stickhandling (dekes)...they're just from opposite perspectives i think....proof: "there's me then there's you" "at the lonely end of the rink, you and me"...think about it...its there.
In View: gorgeous song, reminds me of of one of my all time favs, the darkest one...in it's dreamily romantic lyrical nature and equally so accompanying soundtrack...especially relevant to me personally in light of my current situation and what's been going on in my life recently...ya it's perfect, well it isn't and it is

.
also, i find it to be Springsteenish with the keyboards...
Fly: hasn't grown on me entirely yet...but
INOIB still hasn't either lol! i like this song, just not to the extent that i like the others so far...with it's catchy chorus though, it'll change my mind soon enough i'd wager...i'm in love with the Freddie Mercury, and Ontari-ari-o lines.
luv(sic):
making fun of all those (sic) nu-metal mall-core kids perhaps? who gives a rat's ASS!?!?!?!? LOL! this is a great mid-tempo rocker...it's almost as if it were the bastard child of giftshop and you're everywhere...with membership stepping in to babysit every now and then...the guitar work on this reminds me of The Edge at certain moments...not a bad thing at all
The Kids Don't Get It:
they don't have to either...just rock-along little kiddies! certainly the smuggest, ruggedest, rawest moment on the album...it's got a really live bar-band-jam vibe, and attitidue to spare...this one should be a revelation live! lyrically and vocally enthralling...i'll soon have to test my theory that this is an excellent drinking song

...isn't it great when Go®d get's all fired up like this (also see: The Drop Off)? lol
Pretend: really, the only all out tender moment on the album, and it seems all the more brilliant following Kids...gentle yet firm and assertive...quite charming too. no denying that it's connected to Kids...so it's true...opposites do attract hehe.
Last Night I dreamed You Didn't Love Me:
probably the most well balanced of the lot...i hear flashes of Vapour Trails, Stay, The Completists, and One Night In Copenhagen...that's a mixed lot to say the least...those must've been tastey fingers...mmmmmmmmm hipalicious.
THE DROP OFF:
do i have to say anything? RAWK! \M/! deja vu baby...the hip do a wonderful time warp here...i love the vocal solo. down'n'dirty hip at its finest...encore material for sure.
Family Band:
simple riffery can go a long way, especially when it falls into a lovely groove such as the one on display here. truly wicked indeed...kinda reminds me of a happier more upbeat Queens Of The Stone Age at times...probably because it's a great no-nonsense rock & roll song...the kick drum loaded part is brilliant...my only complaint is that it's not the last song on the album...but the hip never seem to e nd albums with a rocker so i guess it's a non-issue...just a thought.
World Container:
am i the only one who thinks this is a shot a dubya? i won't dwell on that aspect, because this is the title track...another semi-springsteen outburst here...a very poignant and powerful song, and even though i think Family Band would be betteras the closer, this still wroks very well...i'm not so sure it'll be the best live...only time will tell i suppose.
9/10...gotta leave room for improvement

.
it sounds like a hybrid of it's three predecessors...perfectly melded together. Bob Rock did a fantastic job, and the artwork is quite possibly my favourite to date (not the cover, but the booklet, my favourite cover will always be FC or IVL).
yet another instant classic from our boys...not that it comes as a shock, it's just nice to know that there's somethings you can always count on...
now, how's that new Smashing Pumpkins album coming? lol, i'm just dying to ejaculate all over it...ok, i've said too much  .
