Presale wasnt fun
#1

i ended up with 27th row in regina..i don`t know if its because i needed 8 tickets for friends or what, but 27th row is brutal for a fan club presale. i didn`t want to release them and end up in row 79 or something crazy. gets me madder when i see sets of row 3`s and front rows on ebay from a US seller. gotta say this new fan club pre sale hasn`t really worked out for me......longing for the days of the old hip club Sad on the bright side of things, at least i`m get to see them

It must have been that you wanted a block of 8, because I was able to get 9th row in Regina, but only bought two tickets.

Definitely the block of 8 -- I had U2 fanclub seats a few years back and ordered the same amount and was basically in the nosebleeds. My buddy was a fanclub member and ordered two, and got awesome seats.

I ordered 8 for Edmonton, and didn't even get the floor...mind you, it's row three beside the stage, but for literally being the first person on the bloody edmonton presale, not getting floor was kind of weak. especially for 8 tickets in a venue that seats 17,000

This type of presale just doesn't work. imho.

Anyone/everyone had access to the password and there is all sorts of time to transfer the tickets from buyer to end user. So scalpers got in fast, and bought the max amount with their computer program that bypasses the hidden word input screen. Damn

What happened to the good old days?

Also I noticed that at least 3-4 venues for next years tour are offering TIERED ticket prices($39.50-$75) I was always very proud of the fact that TTH always went with the 1 price for any ticket, deal.

It's not like I will stop being a fan but to me the TTH's ticket situation is getting worse for us real fans.

Back in 2004, Pearl Jam played a "fan club members only" show at what was then called the FleetCenter in Boston. The tickets were sold through Ticketmaster, but instead of a generic password each fan club member was sent a *lengthy* PIN #. Which meant that not only did each fan club member have an individual password, but it was impossible to a, guess (like some of us did yesterday), or b, get more than your allotment. It might be something for the Hip to look into next time.

correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't the TTH black "credit card" the right system...each person had their own #

i just dont understand moving to a system that is worse, when potentially we could all be moving forwardand improving things.

how about those venues selling tiered prices for tickets? what happened there? and why is it only at some venues and not all venues?

just curious as to what is going on. any input would be appreciated!

The Chili Peppers did the same thing on their tour this time around. You go to the web page to generate a password for your account only, then use your account to get your 4 ticket allotment.

I agree. To make matters worse I checked ebay and there are several primo tickets being offered at or near $200 a ticket. those are tickets that should be in the hands of hipclub/hipbase members.

You really can't prevent scalpers from getting into a presale. Scalpers can join fan clubs, too.

If you want to make life tough for scalpers, you do things like making good seats available only in small blocks, which ticks off fans trying to buy blocks of 8 seats. Or, you require people with tickets in the first x rows to pick up their tickets the day of the show at the box office, and show the credit card used to buy them for verification. Which means that if you break both legs and can't make the show, you can't sell the tickets even at face value.

(Yeah, I know. Why would breaking both legs keep a true fan away from a show?)
