Former Canadian Prime Ministers in Reality Show
By ETAN VLESSING

TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - As Canada's Prime Minister-elect Stephen Harper basks in his election victory, four of his predecessors are set to become judges in a reality TV show called "The Next Great Prime Minister."

Canadian broadcaster CTV on Wednesday unveiled plans for the show, which will premiere Feb. 4. Five young Canadians will endure public speaking and debate challenges to transform themselves into a possible national leader. The prize includes an internship in a Canadian public policy think tank.

TV reality shows have long depended on stage veterans like pop stars, supermodels and actors for celebrity judges. But this format will see former prime ministers Kim Campbell, Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney and John Turner passing judgment.

I was back home in Sudbury over this past week for work, and I heard something on the evening news about some kind of "Next Prime Minister" competetition. It turns out that one of the finalist competitors is from the Big Nickel, so I've got to throw my support behind her.

Yay Sudbury girl!!! All the way....

I'm sure this will be a ratings HIT!!!!!!

Having Kim Campbell and Joe Clark call you the next great Prime Minister is like having Keanu Reeves call you the next great actor.

Mulroney is the only PM in that group that had any kind of success, and he even he was despised by Canadians at the end of his tenure.

I have never watched any reality television on purpose, but I think I will have to watch at least one episode of this. I don't know if that's a good thing.

Turner and Campbell were PMs for summer jobs and now they are laughing all the way to bank with sweet positons and jobs.

Lesson learned - no matter how bad you screw up as PM there are plenty of amazing opportunites waiting for you after you lead your party to a devestating defeat.

If that makes sense to anyone.
