I heard that Paris Hilton really did want to spend the rest of her life with her fiance. Celebrity romance is a joke.

Just read the Flyers traded Patrick Sharp Eric Meloche to Chicago for Matt Ellison. Don't know much about Ellison, but hope he's what we need - too many injuries right now.

Thanks Steve.. http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/news_ ... ?id=145926 It has to be said, he didn't belong on that team, Im glad he's not going. An amazing career nonetheless, Im sure its his last year..actually there's talk he may not finish the year, we'll have to wait and see. Too bad he couldn't go but I respect him for putting the team/country ahead of himself.

Don't know if anyone has heard this, but a report has gone out saying Mario Lemieux has been admitted to hospital with a possible irregular heartbeat. Geez, I hope he's OK. Seems to me there have been too many health scares so far this season.

Yeah I heard that earlier, Mario's career has been so up and down, I feel bad for the guy. I hope he's ok and can still play, but rumors were already going around that he probably wasn't going to finish the season anyways. Thats speculation of course, but things haven't been going the way he hoped they would in Pittsburgh. I think that franchise should pack it in. Bring back the Jets or Nordiques!!! Canada deserves another team.

Just in case any of you missed it, VANCOUVER BEAT OTTAWA. Just thought I'd remind everyone of that. Tongue :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Wish I could have seen the game. Sounds like Vancouver really outplayed them - of course I guess having 6 more PPs helps. Maybe the Sens were saving themselves for some real competition tonight. Tongue

I thought Vancouver had 10 PP's and Ottawa had 6 PP's.

Anyway, the powerplays took away from the flow of the game but Vancouver did have more chances. Hasek almost stole one for the Sens. Auld was great in the shootout. I was shocked Vancouver won in the shootout. Crawford had Kesler as the 3rd shooter. What is it with Crawford and shootouts? Jovo had his usual game of 7 turnovers. Salo had about 10 shots. Naslund was playing with a bad groin and still scored a goal. Bertuzzi was average, even though the commentators said he played a great game.

....CALGARY wins in OT. That's two losses in a row for the Sens. What a great couple of nights to be a hockey fan. Let the losing streak continue!! :thumb:

Great win by the Flames tonight! The constant parade to the penalty box in the 1st was a little annoying, but thankfully the refs put their whistles away in the 2nd and let the teams battle it out. After Amonte tied it up, the Flames shifted into high gear and completely took over the game, outshooting the Sens 11-2 in the 3rd and shutting down their top line. It was beautiful to watch. After tonight I'm not quite as scared of Ottawa as I was before the game. Perhaps they were a bit tired after playing a tough game against the 'Nucks last night, but when they go up against a hard-hitting defensive team like Calgary, they certainly don't look as invincible as everybody says they are.

I agree with most of what you said - but keep in mind the Flames were rested and the Sens just played the night before (as you stated), and, the Sens were without their #1 d-man. As a Flames fan, you know how much they stunk up the joint without Regher. Not trying to rain on your parade - just saying that the Sens weren't exactly on the top of their game. The Flames players also said that they left it all out on the ice because they aren't playing again for a full week.

Wait a second - why on Earth am I defending the Sens?

Those who say the Senators were tired from playing Vancouver the night before might as well stop now.
The Senators had 7 nights off to prepare for 120 minutes of hockey. They lost both games. Chances are, these losses have nothing to do with weary legs.

And if they do, I know a certain team that isn't going to do very well in April, May, and/or June if they get tired that easily. They could play 28 games in 56 days in the playoffs...

Uh, well the obvious difference is that in April, May and/or June both teams will be tired from having played each other the night before. Rather than one team being rested, and the other team having played the night before. In fact, in the post-game media session Sutter said that their strategy was to hit Chara and Phillips as much as possible because they knew they had played a lot of minutes the night before.

My point is not that back to back games makes a team tired and uneffective for the next game..... in fact, a team is far less likely to win the second game of back-to-back nights. My point is that if, after seven days off, a team can't bite the bullet and put in (in this case, 130) minutes of effort then they obviously have a lack of physical and/or mental strength.

Yeah, I expected the Senators to play less effectively against the Flames than they did against the 'Nucks. What I didn't expect was for them to give up completely midway through the second.

Losing a game 2-1 in OT is "giving up"?
