I'm glad you guys had such an easy time with maple, I ordered Heksenketel from them last year and it never arrived, so i called and e-mailed about a million times with no response. Finally I got an email saying that even though it was advertised as being available it was never actually in stock even though I got a conformation number and it took me over a month to find this out. Long story short it was a big headache, and I'm a little reluctant to do business with them anymore. I'm glad I decided to pick up the set at Future Shop instead of pre-order.

I just came across some disappointing information for Detroit area Hip fans (and possibly all U.S. Hip fans). Normally I am able to go to my local record store here in the U.S. and get my new Hip CD on the announced release date. I assumed the same would be true for the box set.
I have been reading all the posts from Canadian Hip fans about pre-ordering the box set through different online sites and the varing prices that have been found. I have ordered from MapleMusic in the past and I've been happy with their service. But I had decided earlier that I would just go to the record store close to my house and pay their asking price and have the box set on November 1st.
I checked online for the prices at BestBuy, MediaPlay and f.y.e. which are all close to me. BestBuy=$52.99, MediaPlay=$59.98 and f.y.e.=$42.99. Of course, I went to f.y.e. to reserve a copy that I could pick up tomorrow. When I arrived at the store they were opening the boxes of new releases for sale on November 1st. I asked if they had received Hipeponymous in their shipment. They did not. They checked the store's new release print out and did not find it listed. They checked the computer system and did not find it there either.
I had printed the page from f.y.e.'s website stating that they were selling the Hipeponymous box set and suddenly noticed that it stated they were not shipping it until November 8th. I went back home and checked BestBuy's and MediaPlay's websites which also stated they were not shipping until November 8th. I did not call or go to the other record stores, but I assumed they would be like f.y.e. and not have any copies in the store. (BestBuy's site did note Hipeponymous released on 11/1 and Yer Favorites released on 11/8 but would not give a ship date any earlier than November 8th).
On the plus side, f.y.e. offered Hipeponymous for $42.99 - $5 mail-in rebate + tax and shipping for a total of $48.73. The down side is I will not receive it until 3 to 5 business days after November 8th. I do have all the songs, including No Threat. I'm just missing The New Maybe. I guess my collection of Hip Cds and DVD bootlegs will have to do for two more weeks or less.
Has any other U.S. fans encountered this problem?

I just bought a copy of the Calgary Sun for the coupon, thanks for the heads up!
Unfortunatly, I got bad news while on my way home from the store and I need your guys advice. A friend of mine called me and told me she had just bought me my Christmas present, and I got the hint that she may have bought me Hipeponymous. Do I buy it tomorow and risk having two copies and an angry friend, or do I wait and wait and wait and wait until Christmas? Keep in mind, I've listened to the Hip longer than I've known her.

Got mine today in the mail! - ordered from chapters-indigo.ca. I had a gift certificate from there, so the higher cost doesn't bother me. I guess they were trying to time it for Nov.1 ?!? CanadaPost is a little quicker than they thought?
The older tracks sound awesome remastered. I'm hearing parts on the remastered tracks that I never knew were ever there!
The book is kinda cool, but I was hoping for more band pics - pretty much just art, poem tidbits, and tour memorabilia pics.
The packaging is quite unique - not so much a "box" set. A hard copy book with cd/dvd holders inside.
I haven't even got to the DVDs yet. I can't get past these remastered FC tracks. I didn't think they were that bad before, but now I know what I've been missing..
...Holy crap, the backing vocals in the FC songs sound completely different. And fully. :-) Check out the "it didn't come it doesn't matter" part in Courage.

.
So all the Tracks from FC have a different twist to them? Even 50?

The FC songs obviously benefit the most from the remastering. They definitely have a new feel. I don't think 50MC seemed as different as a couple others, but I've hardly even listened to everything once through...
I think I'll do a little comparing tomorrow.
