Here's some exciting news for any Rush fans out there.
Rush will be releasing the highly anticipated R30 DVD in late fall 2005. R30 will feature the sold out concert that Rush played in Frankfurt, Germany in October 2004 during their 30th Anniversary tour.
This is great news, judging by how incredible Rush in Rio was, I'm pretty excited about this new release. 2 great DVD's I'll have to wait for this fall.

When I need a little inspiration, I watch Peart's solo on Rio. It makes me tingle every time.

Don't know why, but the angst ridden drum parts in Earthshine give me the heebee geebees. Great song.

They did not change the setlist one iota for the entirety of their overhyped R30 tour. So if Nobody's Hero was not played in Frankfurt, that means it was not played the whole tour.
FWIW, I found the Rio DVD to be the most poorly mixed 5.1 concert DVD I have ever heard. It was as if they wanted to simulate the experience of being at the concert....from the very very furthest seat from the stage. Very echoey and the vocals are buried. Awful mix!

I thought under the circumstances rush in rio was an OK release, I thought they had too many camera angles that made it difficult to watch. I am not happy that they are not releasing the whole show from Franfurt, I believe 8 songs are left out of the DVD. That being said, I will be buying this DVD package the day it comes out.

just picked this up today and have watched most of it already. The bonus features are pretty awesome which include some vintage performances and some classic interviews spanning their career. The concert itself is awesome. Neil's drum solo is incredible as always and the intro overture they do featuring instrumental cuts from some of their older songs including anthem and bastille day is cool too. sound quality and picture quality are really good aswell.
edit* the bonus features of Rush getting inducted into the juno hall of fame shows a clip of the hip doing the limelight cover

I love the new DVD, I thought the Rio DVD was not up to par for a rush concert, I know they had technical problems with the show.
The new DVD does not have the whole concert but, Force Ten, Between The Wheels, Xanadu, 2112, Resist, and the Drum Solo is worth the price. I am still amazed how Geddy is able to play the Bass, Keyboards, trigger samples with his feet and sing all at the same time. I wish I had HDTV to play this on.
