That's more or less it - unless you're an independent station, the guy running the gas station has no control over the price. Either it's dictated to them over the telephone, or they're given a pair of binos and told to match the station down the street.

This is why I giggle at the line that gas prices are driven by competition: it ain't competition when all the competitors put their prices up to the same price at the same time.

Gas prices are driven by gas futures.

The only questions I have now is, will Gas prices eventually come down? And at what price will it eventually settle at, is it possible for the price to ever go below 90 again or is this it?

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I'm no economist, but I doubt it - not without gov't intervention.

Right now, it's all about B20 biodiesel..... 4 stations in Ontario, and most diesels don't need modifications to use it. $0.95 a litre at last check....

I think you can add stubborness from nation states; exploration, reserve use, promotion of alternatives and dealing with "good" and "bad" suppliers (Saudi's=buddies while Chavez, for some reason=devil), and multi-national profiteering; Western consumption and car culture drive those futures... and good old fashioned collusion.

Where's Bart Giamatti when ya need him?
