Two different skus will be released from microsoft this winter.

1. Premium package. $399.99 The premium package contains an Xbox 360, a detachable 20-GB hard-drive, a wireless controller, faceplate, headset, a component HD AV cable, an Ethernet cable, and for a limited time, a remote controller.

2. "Core package" . $299.99. This is a stripped down affair in comparison. It includes an Xbox 360, one standard wire controller, a faceplate, and a standard AV cable. T

he $399 package is designed for the high-definition gaming era; the other is designed for a no-frills, current-gen set-up. Presumably both systems come with power cords, though Microsoft's press releases didn't actually include them.

Taking into account that a memory card ($39.99 U.S) is required for saving games, a headset ($19.99 U.S) is necessary for Xbox Live play, a second controller sells for $39.99 , and a remote goes for $29.99 , totaling $130, the premium price appears the better deal. The above tally doesn't include a MS HD, which costs an additional $99 (totaling $229).

So microsoft is giving us a choice, but not really because who's not going to spend the extra 100 bucks for all the extra's you get. Why they are even making a next gen system without a HD?

Nevertheless at least we know the price, although in canadian im thinking $479.99-$499.99, now all we need is a date!

Well, Its about dam time they announced it!

Premium package for me all the way, I need that 20GB HD and the Ethernet cables, so there really is no point in buying the $299 one, just like you said it is a better deal, especially since I plan to make full use of this thing. The prices are pretty much what was expected, the only thing that burns me is that they promised all along that the 20GBHD would be standard but hey thats M$ for you. But Im so excited about the news that I cant get mad right now.....drinks are on me everybody!!!!!!!!

What is the expected on-shelf date? I am hoping to wait for an x-mas sale, but the premium package might be a pre-sale special. If that is the case it is a value bundle worth the $299. My wife is going to crap, but it's my birthday present... so she knows it is coming.

No official release date as of yet, but I can almost guarantee it will be in the first two weeks of November, the 2nd and the 15th are the most commonly used. As for Halo3, next year, Gates has said it will come out the same day the Playstation3 is released, and thats supposed to be Spring/Summer 2006.

Hmm probably seems like a lot to some, but for me vids are my passion in life, Ive been a hard-core gamer since I was born, and I have no plans to stop anytime soon, so its well worth it from my standpoint. i didnt think the dollar was that bad. But thats the price in which we are selling it for too, so oh well i guess..

Also we have ALL but 2 of the 360 games listed at $69.99 and some listed at $79.99.. not trying to screw up your budget or anything

Last time I saw the pre-order list it was 59 across the board, but that probably was the american prices, ill have to add $50 more then..this is getting nuts!!!!!

It's pretty stupid to get the "core" one, given you get everything for a hundred bucks more. That's $450...plus a $60 game, plus our blasted 14%.

Im a PC gamer as well, Im playing ElderScrolls III: Morrowind on my PC right now and its totally blowing my mind! But consoles are more fun [imo], you can invite friends over play Halo2, or have a hockey or NFL tourney and just kick back in the couch and go nuts. PC gaming is more of a one-person thing, unless your into MMORPG's of course. And xbox live is the best around so you get the best of both worlds. And if your comment was directed at the price...

If your talking strictly gaming, xbox360 wins hands down.

yup getting both for sure.PS3 will probably come out in March if not later so i have some time in between to save$$$. Rumor is that PS3 will cost more then 360, so im hoping it doesnt come out till a little later.

Also PS3 will have a BLUE-RAY disc player, for those whom dont know it will try to replace DVD. This up's the cost of the system and targets people with HDTV's once again. (HD-DVD players also come out this x-mas with the same hopes)

In mid september i get a chance to play or at least see 360 in action at our canadian E3 type thingy for all EB managers. I doubt sony will show off ps3 as its not a holiday release so they will most likely just show us their xmas lineup of Jak, Ratchet etc etc.

Its a pretty cool show actually, every single vendor is there and they show us every game they can possible jam into there session. Then on the last day we get to have a Exhibit of the games. It lasts 4 days and even includes Sony paying for a band to perform a privat gig for us..last year it was the killers!

And your idea is good, however i know at least 4 others that are doing
that except they are buying 2 premiums. Nevertheless, its all about the supply and demand my friend :thumb:

No confirmation on those game prices, but I'd say at least $60. Actually I think Microsoft might try and get their developers to sell their software for less, but offer more purchaseable downloadable content to push their Live service.

Maybe when Nintendo said their console was a "Revolution" they meant a price revolution :|
