-- Im sure the band appreciates knowing that "long time" fans won't support and official release because of the availability of bootlegs. The band allows you to share boots and supports you in that. Yet, you see no reason to support the band when they put forth money, time and effort to keep us entertained? You are a tool.

I probably spend more time on downloading/uploading/editing fan recordings of The Hip than almost anyone. I tape, edit, author, distribute, etc, etc and have seen/heard more than my share of great shows... but I'll be first in line when this package hits the shelves!
And Shane, although this is a rare instance where a Greatest Hits/DVD/2 CD package actually looks like it was geared for the fans, the record company and the band still want to make money and sell copies. How many fans do you think would actually shell out their cash for a pre 1985 recording of The Hip? How many, for that matter, would even want a pre-1993 recording? Or pre 2000 recording? People want the highest quality for the lowest cost. It's called value, and there isn't much value in what you are asking for, to the average consumer.
We are the minority in the world of Hip fans. The members of this site, the diehards, the tapers and traders, etc. We are few and far between for a band that has sold more than 6 million records.
Even if every Hipbaser bought every record twice, that's not even 1% of their sales!
I can see your point, but it's unrealistic. This is a fantastic package and the band should be applauded for it.

agreed!!
weve seen the unoffical toronto DVD but i will glady spend whatever amount required to get the professional version...plus all their videos and "xtras" that will be included. I support the band all the way!

Well from part of the UK community, and on a dial-up connection (I have 2 kids under 3, lots of EMT work & study & run a house, not enough time for t'internet to warrant price of broadband) I am looking forward to the full set for everything I have missed.
We don't get any TTH airplay over here, never mind video!
I am also stoked, but I think it translates as 'Chuffed'
Anyone know what region this will be?

cferneyh- I've agreed with a lot your've said lately...and every time I say...that's one smart baby!
I think this the whole thing is great. To those who knock the product..drop the negativity... In the end, I think this was something that may have been forced on the band contractually. But...even if it was; it appears they shrugged that off and really produced a valuable...balls out package of their work....for everyone...especially late comers who get to see their true awesomeness. A bunch of new listeners-- shocked by such an impressive box set will surely help future sales. I'd gladly pay $100 beans for this. and the title is great....i've been saying it all afternoon..try it...come on..right now..hipeponymous...whod a thunk it...

Woot!
Actually, no, make that... WOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That about sums it up, I think. :thumb:
Like skip said, it would be nice to have more of the unreleased songs on the collection... but otherwise there are a LOT of great things in this package, and I for one can't wait to get it. The only question now is whether to snap it up immediately once it comes out, or ask for it as a Christmas present and wait even that much longer for it.
Hmmm... decisions, decisions...
