we all know there's more to great bands other than the "classics"...just listening to an old Cream Record (yes..on vinyl) and re-discovered a song i used to love as a kid....Doin That Scrapyard Thing...most people know Cream for White Room, Sunshine of your love, but Scrapyard is so much fun, and really bizarre lyrics like...

When I was young they gave me a mongrel piano,
Spent all my time inventing the cup of tea.

Funny enough I was just listening to an old Paul McCartney+Wings album: 1972's Red Rose Speedway, most people think of "Jet" and "Band on the Run" but my favorite wings tune is "Hi Hi Hi", love that song, some interesting lyrics as well..

i LOVE that song..speaking of Paul, a really lost classic of his is Picasso's Last Words...on the wings over america album, he combines it with Richard Cory written by Paul Simon (a lost classic of Simons)

Hearing GD cover Oh Yoko at the White Ribbon made me flip over John Lennon's "Imagine", something I had seemingly hadn't done since grade 9.

Last time I DJed someone requested "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. I couldn't get it out of my head for a week. Same with "Everybody's Talking" by Nielson. I heard that on the radio in Texas when I was on vacation and it's made it to four mix cds since then.

My buddy, obviously a Clapton fan, describes it as "When Phil Collins damn near brought God down to earth." But I just love the guitar riffs, the cheesy 80's sound, and the painfully corny lyrics are fun in a guilty pleasure kinda way.

And if airline tickets weren't so expensive, I'd find you. I wanna meet Bob Uecker, and I figure you could make that happen.
