A friend of mine is a pretty skilled musician and after listening to most of my Hip collection he has informed me that most, if not all, of there song are played in 4/4.
Anyone have any examples or songs that are not 4/4.

As far as I've seen, they are all in 4/4, but that is pretty standard for rock and roll. Pink Floyd, Rush, Tool, etc. will often throw in odd time signatures, but most rock is in 4/4.

pretty much all rock and roll and pop for that matter are in 4/4...the best examples of ones that arent in 4/4 are Manic Depression by Hendrix (3/4) and Money by Plink Floyd (7/4)...and wild mountain honey is in 4 actually

I've had many a debate on the time signature of As I Wind Down the Pines..... there is much confusion among music scholars....

Long Time Running and Beautiful Thing are both in 6/8 time. As I wind down the pines is 9/8 followed by 8/8 consecutively and All Tore Up is an intersting piece because of the way it molds the 4/4 drums and the 6/8 bass. Thats about all I can think of...

The tab book sez Hundredth Meridian is 15/16, which strikes me as simply bizarre, though I've never really looked at it.
But most popular music is 4/4. Rock is mostly 4/4, country is mostly 4/4. Most popular songs also use three chords. So?
Making good music isn't about showing off by screwing around with time signatures and key changes.

i'm still baffled by As I Wind Down the Pines.... the 8/8 is clear which, at least to my ears and feet, comes in at the "to play without stopping" part... but, it seems as though it starts with one measure of 9/8 and then goes to 7/8 back to 9/8 back to 7/8 and then holds on some time signature for a few measures...... any help das_hips?
