I know we've got a few around here, just wondering if everybody's okay. State of emergency in Calgary today. I think I saw Casey and Cfern tossing sandbags on the news.
Everybody doing alright out there?

It's finally a kick ass sunny day. We took the kid and the pooch to the Bow and man, is that thing ever high. I live about three blocks away from it, I see it every day on my way into the office, and I've never seen it like it is right now. I lived in Vancouver for 7 years, various parts of Ontario for 20 years, and I've never seen it rain like it has here in June. I don't think there's going to be a Prairie drought this year.

I live a good 10 blocks or so from the Bow, so luckily the flooding hasn't really affected me. I'm just sick of all the f**king rain. It was great to get outside today and walk around in the sun. It feels like it's been a month since I've seen that big fiery ball in the sky. Hopefully we'll have a nice hot, dry, sunny summer to make up for it. As long as I've lived here I've never seen it rain like it has over last three weeks. It's been crazy.

My basement flooded, I've been pumping water since late Friday night, I've been awake for three days straight with only two short naps, and my dog got a wicked case of the trots from drinking the flood water. Things aren't so good over here, but the water seems to finally be slowing down. The water was originally coming through 7 different area and is now down to 4, so things are looking up.

I went back to the farm this weekend (Swift Current area). We had over 3 inches of rain in just over 1 hour on Friday night. I've never seen flooding and wash-outs like that before. It just tore all the topsoil off the hills and dropped it in the low spots. There is a feed-lot about 1/2 South of our farm. 300 cattle have to be shot because the hail tore the hides off their backs. Lots of crazy stories like that around home.

My former apartment building downtown has about 3 feet of water in the basement apartments. Glad I have moved. And those new condos on the Talisman Center side of the Elbow river (yes the same ones that burned to the ground 3 years ago) are flooded halfway up their garage door.

Luckily, where we live is nowhere near the troubles areas.
My wife got a call Saturday evening from some close friends who live on a street that faces the Bow River in Inglewood...they had just been visited by the cops telling them to get out now because the flooding was coming soon.
It's just nuts the amount of water we have and the flooding that has occured.

Well, after spending an entire week drying carpet, blocking leaks, moving funiture and giving my dog treats laced with Kaopectate, my basement flooded again. I'll have some pictures up tomorow, but right now I have to go suck water out from under the furnace.

if you could, please send some of your rain over to Sudbury, it hasn't rained in quite sometime now, and it just keeps getting hotter and hotter, and muggier and muggier, the humidity is sick, it's hot as hell and it hasn't even been sunny in almost a week!
