That is one of the most ignorant things I've ever read on here.

You might want to check out the albums Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street... Not to mention the numerous bootlegs which showcase Mick Taylor's amazing guitar leads.

:rambo:

ignorant? a lot of people who know and love music will tell you how talented jones was....and think that the stones should have gone in the direction he wanted to..and thanks for the reccomendations...i do think exile is ok, but not as legendary as it's made out to be...sticky fingers is decent..

You are so wrong.

Have you seen the Stones live? if you have then you can argue the point, if you haven't then shut up.

you shut up...stones = THE MOST OVERRATED BAND EVER

I thought you worked in or on the radio, if you have the nerve to say the Stones are the most overated then I can say the same for Led Zepplin, . YOu have no business being in music or on the radio if you think the stones are overrated. The Hip wouldn't be here today if there we no stones, nor would led Zepplin so you should but a cork in it.

zeppelin is nothing like the stones, and to say i have no business being in radio is crazy...you're saying everybody who's in the industry has to like the stones?? i don't expect everybody to like the beatles, but to me they're miles ahead of what the stones ever did....and by the way..it's ZEPPELIN..not zepplin.... Tongue ....
I'm not saying you have to like them, at least you have to give them the respect they deserve. Zeppelin is nothing like the Stones, Oh right I forgot, Zeppelin liked to rip off old blues classics and turn them into there own. The Beatles are amazing, the Stones made Rock and Roll what it is today.

yeah..you're right..stairway to heaven was a blues classic...and the stones made rock what it is today?? you mean i can thank them for creed, nickelback, default, and many other shitty bands? wow..thanks stones..i really appreciate it....the stones died when brian jones died....

YOu should do some internet searches on the music that Zep, apparently ripped off, it is interesting stuff.
Did Zeppelin not influence anyone?? Pretty sure they did, a lot of the bands you named i'm sure.
What are you saying, you don't like Default????? c'mon they rule

oh yeah..they rule..lol..hey..i know zep stole some blues stuff, but a lot of that stuff was stolen to begin with, and others they did blatantly steal...but the thing that i find funny, is a lot of those blues "classics" are only classics cause of what zep did to them...they have since given due where's it should be given to the writers....and your'e a good guy as well...

Yes, Jones was incredibly talented. :thumb:

Just the same though, 'a lot of people who know and love music will tell you how talented' Mick Taylor was in his time with the Stones. Most polls of die-hard Stones fans rank Taylor ahead of both Jones and Ronnie Wood.

I don't agree that they made some of it classics, maybe classic Zeppelin, I'd take Robert Johnson over Zeppelin anyday.

Just to add to the Taylor-era Stones discussion, I seem to remember more than a few times the boys from The Hip stating Exile.. as one of their favs and also at the Mod Club show last year Robbie saying how Taylor (when he was with the Stones) was a major influence on him. :thumb:

LizardKing51 Wrote:I agree the new U2 is mediocre at best, but whats with all the Coldplay hate? Everybody can have there likes and dislikes, thats cool, but I just dont see whats wrong with them, they are the only bright light in an otherwise dark and dismal music scene [IMO]. And if the new single "Speed of Sound" sounds like their other songs, well hey take it for what is man, thats Coldplay, its what they do and they do it really well. I dont want them to change, its not necessary, every band goes through changes, but I mean take Metallica, every album they make is a heavy metal album, there really is no change, but each album is different in a small way, but in the end it rocks and sounds good, so whats wrong with that? Its what Metallica does, metal. Just like Coldplay does what it does. In short I love their sound, and I hope they keep it coming, I love there songs and I think they are the biggest "new" band of the last 5 years, hands down. Thats not to say, there hasn't been good bands in the last 5 years, but Coldplay tops em all. :thumb:

You're right, I don't particularly like Coldplay but that doesn't mean they are a bad group. It's just my opinion. I don't hate Coldplay as much as you hate Alanis but we all have our own tastes. I don't hear anything original in Coldplay. They play in 2nd gear. They don't seem to be able to crank it up and pick up the pace as much as I think they should. It's not so much that I despise the band as much as I get sick of hearing how they are the #1 band in the world. I can think of 10 better bands in eastern Canada alone.

I am not a big fan of stadium shows, which is all The Stones are ever going to play -

Too much hype, too many random fans, too much contrived fun.
And their "new" stuff sucks.

Hip shows - smaller venues (where I am), purist fans, much more of an personal event - Their new stuff freaking ROCKS
