If you believe Jack Layton and the NDP is the best option politically for Canada... well that's cool, I may not agree with that, but good for you for taking that stand...

... but if you honestly think we'll be "America's biatch" if Steven Harper and the Conservatives win the next election, then you don't have a freakin' clue about what's been happening politically in this country.

Ok back to the Nash debate, why the hell wasn't Rick Nash suspended for assulting two refs?!

Apparently because both the IIHF and Hockey Canada feel that it's perfectly acceptable to use your stick and hook a referee as he's skating away in order to get his attention...

And here was me stupidly thinking referees were off limits...

More disturbing to me was Nash's amnesia when it came to remembering the incident, and Bob Nicholson's subsequent quotes on the matter...

A one game suspension (i.e. today's game vs. Ukraine) would have put all this to bed, but as it stands they may have sent a very dangerous message to kids who might now think it's OK to do likewise...

IT would have been a suspension in the NHL I thought the IIHF was supposed to be tougher in that regard. They really Blew it.

What was the point of linking that. That justifies everything?? IIHF wimped out, he clearly took a swing at the linesman and Hooked the ref twice.

personally i could care less if he's suspended or not..the hockey has been so shitty, i really don't care now if the nhl comes back or not..i thought that watching it would make me miss the nhl, but no way, no how...

I totally agree, these games are total sleepers. I think NMAS said it best in his earlier post. (on page 3)<-------go back!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

I linked it because it answered your question.

I'm not taking a shot at you Chris, I just think TSN are the biggest homers in all of sports reporting. Canada can do no wrong as far as they are concerned. Brian Burke being the only one that tells it like it is.

No shot taken. The TSN/ESPN stations are, as far as I can tell, driven to be nationalistic. It goes hand-in-hand with sports. My team's better than yours. My country's better than yours.

Either way, that's how the IIHF saw the play, and that's how they ruled.

I laughed out loud when I first read that..."not deliberate"?!? Yeah, ok.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to non-deliberately bump into a policeman with my SUV...

On the bright side, at least this incident has added some desperately needed colour to an otherwise sleep-inducing tourney...
