***AMBER ALERT***-Baby has been found and returned safely.
#1

It’s the kind of nightmare every official who looks after a child’s welfare dreads – and it’s happening in the city’s west end.

An Amber Alert has been issued and a massive hunt is underway, after a six week old disappeared from a Children's Aid Society office at the Dufferin Mall. The infant was having a supervised visit with her mother, Lisa Heughan, (pictured, top left), when both mysteriously vanished.

They’d been separated shortly after little Graciana was born, over fears about the mother’s mental health.

Those fears are now intensifying with the news one is believed to have run off with the other.

The child was dressed in a pink one piece jumper and wrapped in a winter coat. Despite her age, there are some distinguishing marks.

“The baby has some acne related to being born on its face. Some spotting and the baby also has a birthmark under its left arm,” relates Detective Ian Griggs. “We believe the baby is in imminent danger and we want to find this baby as soon as possible.”

The child is healthy, but there’s no guarantee she’ll stay that way. “We don't believe there's any direct threat to the life of the baby, but being six weeks old if it's not properly taken care of, it will begin to dehydrate.”

The mother is described as:

White,
38,
5'10",
Long black curly hair,
Medium build,

She was wearing black jeans and a peach shirt.

Heughan is known to police, with a history of drug and alcohol abuse. But she’s not believed to stay in one place very long. That’s why cops have no idea where she may have gone.

All T.T.C., Go Train, taxi drivers and security officials have been notified about the disappearance and are keeping a wary eye out.

Officials are pleading with the public to watch for anything suspicious, and call 14 Division at (416) 808-1400 or 911 if you spot the woman or her precious charge.

Amber Alerts are issued whenever a child goes missing. They were named after nine-year-old Texas girl Amber Hagerman, who was murdered in 1996. The program is designed to ensure future disappearances have happier outcomes.

How could it have been supervised if she was able to take off with the baby?! I hope they find the baby alive and well.

It happens more often than not. I have worked with CAS one summer and you would be suprised at some of the things you see.

Well, they found her:

Seeing as her father is "the world's most documented psychic," did they ever really need the amber alert in the first place? I'm surprised he didn't see the abduction coming....

Yeah we got a call at 2:45 this morning, 12 hours after she was taken. She was taken to the hospital and checked out, she got back here at about 5 a.m, must be exhausted, she's still sleeping.

The father is a psychic and the mother is a former Playboy model featured in the August 1990 edition of Girls of Canada.
