Ok, I have this stupid nagging thought.
See, one of the greatest things about the Hip, is how much charity work they do, and how much they give back. It just makes going to a concert that much cooler when its a benifit show..i dont know exactly how to explain that thought, sorry, but I just think with all the dedicated posters here, we can start doing something other than talking about the best songs, and albums, and the latest updates...I mean we should keep doing that, but maybe with the manpower available, we, as Hip fans, can start to think about doing charitable things as well. Just cause the Hip arnt touring doesnt mean we cant have Hip events to help groups in need...I hope this doesnt sound corney...
Its really just a thought I had, and i am wondering if anyone else would like to work on this idea?

ya, I know what you are talking about.
I started by donating some money to the Waterkeepers.
I think that's a great idea, however, I'm not sure how much time I would have to volunteer since I'm busy with many different things.

I'm in -- I can give up a few hours each week. Let's get together and discuss a good way to proceed....
Phish has/had the fan-driven Mockingbird foundation. It might serve as a template.

I like the idea. If we got together, picked a charity, say, Camp Trillium, something the Hip have always promoted, and we continuously helped out in some fashion (donations/volunteer, etc..),maybe, just maybe it will give the band that extra push for that private gig we've been hoping/praying for. Think about it. What better reward for all the help/donations/volunteer work done by us, then a private gig by the Hip? Never mind the fact that we're helping out a good cause. If we hooked up with Camp Trillium in some fashion, and let them know who we are, I'm sure word will filter back to the band. And we know, they already know about us. It has to work out. Let's discuss.....

Awesome, anyone got any ideas then?
What about a listening party, maybe a dvd release party? get some bar in toronto, charge some fee, drink and listen to the hip and raise some dough.
I definatly think Camp Trillium is a cool focus for us...
We could also just all plan a day where we all vollunteer somewhere...wearing hipbase tee-shirts....

Amazing As Always. You guys just ROCK!
This is the feeling I get when I think of the HIP. I believe because these guys are so genuine and down to their roots kinda guys that help out everywhere they can, they grow the same type of fans. Always proud to say I'm associated with ya'll!
I believe in my own little mind, that I honour my HIP passion by volunteering myself where I can to make a difference, like it sounds you do too.
I have three children. The oldest (now going on 15) would not speak when she first started school. They stuck her with the label "Selective Mute" But I knew it was more stuborness and not wanting to leave the security of home. When she did decide to speak it was gut wrenching for me to watch. Feeling the very same nervousness, I knew she was feeling, you know terrified to speak up in case someone laughs or whatever. So one day I was attending speech presentation by the children at school and was overly discouraged to discover the audience couldn't hear the participants. Same thing, these little folks were nervous and speaking out takes a lot of guts. I decided, in my HIP honouring fashion that I MUST get these fine citizens a proper PA system (microphones) that the "Children Deserve to be Heard" I organized four acts to perform on a Saturday Afternoon (Paul's Wife Joanne was one of my gracious participants- showcasing her book) and Luther Wright in a band called Butterfingers was the grand act. Others were Tom Mawhinney and Spencer Evans. Anywho, they all performed their hearts out that Saturday Afternoon, and now my children are heard LOUD and CLEAR at any performance they decide to brave up to do!!!
Just recently the very FIRST muscial was held at the school.
So fine HIP fans, honour your band. And be proud of yourself for it. We all better the world because we all have that same generous heart!
