Does anyone know where I can get a copy on VHS of the Hip playing Saturday Night Live a while back?

Sorry, just to add to that last post. I was pretty young when they played that gig and remember very little of it. I'm an absolute huge fan now and thought it would be so cool to see that recording again, to see grace and nautical played in that setting.

That was a great performance. As a Hip fan it was definitely an event. Some friends and I gathered at my house to watch the show live that night, and everyone brought over food and beer. It was great. I remember Gord going absolutely nuts during the "him? Here? Now? Nooooo!!!!" part. Also the little Skydiggers tag at the end of Nautical was pretty cool too. Anybody watching that HAD to have been impressed. To this day I'm still amazed that the SNL gig didn't do anything for them in the U.S. That was back in the Adam Sandler/Chris Farley days too, so there must have been at least a few million people watching. This was also at the tail-end of the "grunge" heydey, and intelligent rock was still dominating the airwaves at the time. It really boggles the mind why they never got the attention they deserved from that performance.
If you go to blockbuster.com you can find it in the search but you can't rent it and I don't know if you can buy it,

Here's a guy selling masters of all the SNL episodes he's taped.

Actually - it's pretty funny that you asked and I happened across this post this morning.
I pulled out my VCR and my SNL VHS recording last night to re-encode the performances. I was only going to encode the clips, but if you want the whole show I can encode it for you.
Let me know -
Paul

If I'm not mistaken, it was the first time that Gord opened Grace, Too with "He said I'm Tragically Hip".... And he kind of smirked when he sang it....like it just sorta came out.
