I wonder if this idea sparked from the unforgetable evening when the HIP shared the stage with the one and only Charlie Musslewhite, right here in the Limestone City!! That was unforgetable. Even though I heard them mention how they thought the HIP music wouldn't/couldn't fit in with the Blues, I thought the blend was PERFECT!! I'm SO into hearing a Blues album from the HIP!!!

I can't wait. The unreleased stuff that we know about is so awesome, just imagine how great the rest of it must be.

I'm wet just thinking of the songs that might be on this album! Smile

I think something like this would make a good charity effort. Perhaps all the profits could go to something, whehter a Kingston thing, or a Canadian thing.

It might (selfishly) generate more sales, but ultimately (and importantly) it would make more money for a charity...........

Let's not omit the possibility that they'll end up doing the Elvis Costello thing...re-releasing their back catalogue (probably with a new record company) in spiffy new packages, complete with commentaries and *all* the B-sides fit to spin. Of course, that means if you want unpirated copies of those sides, you'd have to reinvest in the entire Hip collection.

Nah...sounds too devious for them.

Bumblebee
and Ouch! would be good choices for the album. Vegas Strip as well.

The HIP already do SO much for charity, I'd like to see them just make a pile of dough for say, their own children! They deserve it, after SO many years of making so many of US, SO happy!!
cheers, to da HIP

i want to hear them do a cover album, that would rock...think of how incredible a "heart of gold" cover would be...they could keep it acoustic, ORRRRRRRRR, they could beef it up with some don'n'dirty elctric guitars, man that'd be sweet.

That's a good idea, something I'd be interested in hearing. Their cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "Black Day in July" was pretty cool, and their are other songs which would sound good with a Hip touch. I don't know if the boys would go for it, however. But it would be intriguing.

The other interesting discussion point is, if they did go for this, would they consider issuing a mini-box set, to encompass the greatest hits collection they apparently have to produce, plus a B-sides disc and a covers disc? Now that would be something special! :thumb:

I still predict that the greatest hits album will be a double CD with the hits on one disc, and b-sides on the other.

i dunno, i think they have enough hits and b-sides to provide us with a double hits disc and a double b-sides disc...just like pearl jam did.
